No you didn't, it was another poster from your neck of the woods, and in a sense I was replying to both of you.
Did I call him Judas???
Chill out guys, two bald men arguing over a comb sort of thing.
Would welcome Wiseman back if at all possible, he may not have been up to Championship standard and certainly not as a CH, but as a RB for Dale he was outstanding and the experience of playing at a higher level would ding dang do for me.

How can we, as a club who have spent more seasons as a second tier club (76) than any other, be classed as "punching above our weight"?????
If it's a reference to money and budgets (as Keith kept whingeing about day in day out) then I refer you to 96/97 when we had the lowest budget yet were promoted to the Premier League on that budget. We had similar attendances, too. So it's nonsense, and an excuse for any manager that comes here and gets the push.
We're a second tier club on merit. We are where we deserve to be.
And I don't "loathe" Hill. I backed him to the hilt, despite everything pointing to him being out of his depth. He was sacked way too late, with the benefit of hindsight, but that's our fanbase for you, not ONCE did we call for his head. There were 'Keith Hill's Red and White Army' chants in the first 20 minutes of his final game.
It's hilarious reading/listening to outsiders mocking our club and it's supporters as though we've delusions of grandeur. We just want/expect our team to give 100%, our manager to represent that team and club/fanbase, and for us to fight for what we've achieved over 125 years.
Any manager who insists we are punching above our weight is in the wrong job. But at least if Keith returns to Dale he'll be back punching at his own weight, at a club that's at it's own true level.
Who said you're not there on merit? Every single club (barring perhaps Swindon and one or two others) are in their respectful divisions on merit.
Obviously clubs can be promoted on a shoe-string budget, you're preaching to the choir there. It took a small miracle for us to get promoted, as it seems to have for you.
Plenty of threads/posts on your messageboard were indeed calling for Hill's head and yes I understand that's not entirely representative of the whole fanbase but for you to say you didn't call for his head once is absurd.
We as a club, like you, have ambition and aim to be challenging for promotion this year. However, with the size of our budget, playing staff etc we should probably just about be staying in the division.
It'd be interesting to see what KH's brief was at the beginning of the season and similarly what the fans ambitions were but if you honestly believe that you aren't punching above your weight (completely different to if you DESERVE to be there or not) then you really are deluded.

I feel exactly the same as you Chaff. I have really wanted to and tried very hard to back Coleman but am also relieved to hear the news today. It wasn't the recent poor results that have made me change my mind about Coleman, but the rumours and ill-discipline from both players and management. Now Hill can be annoying at the best of times and will always have a pop at the fans when things aren't rosy - but there was so much more to enjoy in the football we saw when he was manager. I agree, also, that it is a big risk to appoint him but let's go for it!
I think it's a bigger risk not to appoint him, there is no one better in my opinion to lead us for a play off push.
I know I know - getting carried away, but why not we haven't had much to excite us recently have we

p.s.
If it were Hill coming back, then I would fully expect 4 wingers signed by Wednesday on loan/permanent.
Whoever it is who is appointed, he is not inheriting a team full of dross as was the position when Coleman was first appointed.
We've got some decent players in the squad, shame that Coleman couldn't get the best out of them collectively.
Easy lads.
Everything that whitey says is correct. I hope you get Keith one because I am interested to see how he will do and secondly I think he is a good guy who will go on to be a great manager. I remember when Wilson left us for Sheffield Wednesday and was totally gutted. I can understand the bad feeling towards Barnsley.
However there is a common misconception on this board that Keith hill was badly treated and we have ideas above our station. Yes our resources are limited but football isn't just about resources and Keith's time was up. he wasn't good enough. I'm afraid he was out of his depth.
The reason why I say he was out of his depth is that he totally misunderstood and underestimated our fan base. He took the fans on. This happened about 3 weeks into the first season. I think he did learn towards the end of his tenure that this would be the death of him but it was too late. It was quite amazing how much backing he got despite this fatal flaw. He could probably get away with it at dale due to his success but he didn't achieve anything at Barnsley.
Our expectations were to play good football and build year on year. We would have gone down but for Pompey in season one was our record in year 2012 was atrocious, heading for sub 30 points!
Genuinely, good luck with everything.
I think we will stay up by the way, I think flicker is a much better fit for Barnsley folk than the rather obnoxious Keith hill. And this is coming from someone who was totally behind kh right up to his departure!

100% true I'm afraid. Flitcroft is a genius of coaching football, hill was just the gobby front man
I know I've mentioned it on here a few times over the years, but saw Hilly working with our school of excellence back in the late 90's, and it stood out the way Hill was when working with the kids. Hill was more the bad cop out of the two (and he developed into that), but had he just been a passenger to Flicker for all these years, I doubt very much that Flicker would have stood by him for so long.

Wiseman deal fell through because Appleton left.
Hill insisted on playing him at centre half. And this broke him. Scott wiseman has never ever been a centre half. He is a fast full back who can't defend at championship level very well.
Another example of ludicrous hill decision making at its stubborn best.

He'd built you a decent team by Jan 2012 - and your board cashed in on your top scorer - Hillys best out of there, Flicker will be gone before next season starts.
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Ha Ha Ha 4 wingers we dint know what they where until he left it was that long since we'd seen any width
He probably realised that with your budget at that level he was pissing against the wind trying to attack every other team in that league with width,to be honest it couldn't happen to a nicer club after all the balloons from your place trying to rub our noses in it,what goes around and all that!!You lot could employ the special one and you'd still rank him as clueless and have no chance in that league regardless

Rubbing your noses in it? Definitely not what I saw from reading this forum. Having been in same position before we were nothing but respectful. He left for more money at a bigger club, get over it.

Apart from one or two goons, that's how I remember it too.
