Come on mate, we've all had a drink.

Cifuentes will be off and away at the first sign of a better offer.
As he should be, as they all would be. He's potentially only one dodgy Gavin Ward decision away from us sacking him three months ago.

I've wondered about this. Obviously, we are not currently at the level of Fulham or Brentford. But neither Frank nor Silva seem to have been desperate to move on to a "bigger club".

Are they not being approached for some reason? Or is being manager at a London club more of an allure than we might imagine? Or am I missing something else?

I just think in the case of both of them, they are not 'big name' enough for the next level of clubs recruiting. In the case of MC, if Leeds or Burnley came knocking, he'd be mad not to.

I think I disagree with that. I'd say if you're comparing Postecoglu's credentials with either of them, they'd probably have a bigger shout for the Spurs job for example. Depends on what you consider next level I suppose. Everton? West Ham? Villa? Maybe even Newcastle?

I don't think it's a coincidence that by and large it's clubs "down South" that have broken through in the Prem, Bournemouth and Brighton with Brentford and Fulham. If the money's good for players, wouldn't they prefer to play down South than go to the likes of Burnley or SheffU.

Maybe I'm just looking at this through slightly rose tinted specs, but you know you had Bielsa at Leeds and he couldn't move them to the level of the four southern clubs I mention above.

Was just thinking back to that sliding doors moment, pointed out in one of Northern's match reports, when the Bristol City winger went off injured, having terrorised Jimmy in his first game at RB.

Incredible trajectory since

I agree re Postecoglou, I just think that was Spurs making another shocking decision blindsided by Celtic winning a mostly one team league comfortably. I was thinking more Man Utd, Arsenal etc as the step up though. Everton and West Ham are not really a step up for me from where those clubs are, in fact Silva has already managed Everton so there is that too. Newcastle will have their head in the stars for their next manager with their Saudi funding. These clubs could do a lot worse than trying them, but I don't think they will.

The only reason why we might accept a £2m bid for Dunne is because he will be OOC in the Summer.
Kilman went from Wolves to West Ham for £40m. Are we in danger of underselling?]

Silva will get an offer soon enough, and he'll take it. Without hesitation.
See what happened previously with him when he was at Hull/Watford. Couldn't wait to snatch your hand off for a go at... Everton.

Frank... Brentford are a terrifically run club. Managers have moved in and out of there and it's made little difference, they've kept progressing. Managers who've been picked off from there haven't done well elsewhere. Uwe Rosler got poached, look how that's gone for him. Warbs... Dean Smith got poached, now a bit of a joke after Norwich and Leicester and in the MLS. Brentford aren't doing well because of the manager. They're doing well because of their set up.

Do you see Thomas Frank being the man to turn around Stoke even? Let alone a big job like Arsenal. If you're a badly run club (as most of them are) don't think picking the guy who's doing well at one of the few smartly run clubs is going to help you. You want the guy who's punching above his budget and succeeding despite the shambles behind him - which is why Danny Rohl is going to be hot property this summer.

Seen a few posts here alluding to Jimmy being no more than a CB who was put at RB for the flick ons and a free kick battering ram.
I’d suggest if you don’t think that James can drop the shoulder and beat a man, overlap, rampage down the line or score a few deft goals then, you’ve not really been paying attention.

His form had a wobble a while ago and maybe Marti was looking at his position in the team, but many of us could see Jimmy was the player he is. More than that, he’s a man in the Macca mould, that alone is high praise.

I really was hoping this was ChatGPNourry classic of saving good news but alas it seems that Jimmy may be off. If so that is a real shame and will be bad news short term for the club.

It’s frightening that it might mean Ashby for the rest of the season.
If so a battle at the wrong end again would not surprise me. I would not be able to attend any further games as Ashby will either get me arrested or give me health issues.

I feel the club has yet again fkd up here and it’ll be another really poor mark against the board for a great player to leave for a fee way below their worth.

Hopefully Jimmy will sign but if hes not in squad and a starter tomorrow then it’s farewell

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I find it amazing that the club, that must know that there is concern amongst fans about Jimmy's future here have just kept us all in the dark for so long. It's been pretty torturous. Let's hope there is some kind of positive announcement tomorrow because it all feels very unfair on the fans and even more so on Jimmy if he hasn't been offered a proper deal here.

Never knowingly right.
