| Forum Thread | Post War Rochdale FC match programmes at 14:18 9 Apr 2024
I am trying to locate someone who has access to Rochdale FC programmes dated between 1946 - 1951. What I am trying to locate is the date when my father Walter R Commins became the secretary of the club. In these old programmes, the was always a list of Club officials. I would be grateful for any help fellow supporters can offer. |
| Forum Thread | Interesting happenings at Newport at 11:12 24 Sep 2023
Newport County FC is run on a similar basis to The Dale i.e. Fan Owned by the Supporters. There is a report of what's going on in the BBC Sports Pages on the internet. It makes interesting reading. |
| Forum Thread | The EFL Club supporters' survey at 11:02 10 Mar 2022
This appeared on my e-mail IN box this morning. It has probably been circulated to thousands of football fans. I don't think that I was selected for any particu;ar reason. It seeks opinions on scores of subjects and the introduction suggests that the survey will only take around 20 minutes. ] DO NOT BE FOOLED. I attempted it and terminated it after an hour when it started asked for opinions on referees!! At that stage I still had 2 "blobs" left on the progress bar. SO BE WARNED. Don't start it unless you have at least an hour to spare. My own view is that a survey of such length is not going to reflect true balanced opinions - folks will just get fed up.......like me. This looks like the EFL playing true to form. |
| Forum Thread | ZEN Sponsorship at 15:39 12 Nov 2020
I was very pleased to learn that ZEN was now a sponsor of the club. ZEN is a fine organisation. I have been with them since they started up in a small industrial estate unit in the town so the fact that I am still with them says a lot. Their customer service is excellent. Their technical help line is everything that you could wish for when you have a problem. And the really good part is that you are speaking to somone in Rochdale. My latest acquisition has been the fast broadband together with ZEN supplying my land line telephone service, which I found to be lower cost than BT. I am super satisfied and I am sure that other Dale supporters will be too. |

I do think that the Poll_2062 is a bit past its sell by date now. |
| Forum Thread | Heading the football at 19:33 17 Jan 2020
The Scottish FA have now banned youth soccer from heading the football. Whilst I think that the sentument is OK, I wonder whether this is a sledgehammer to crack a nut (no pun intended). If this is introduced into competitive soccer, then the probable consequences are that there will be fewer goals scored and more free kicks and penalties (unless an offence in the penalty area attrcts only an indirect free kick). The paying public will react by claiming that the game has eroded as a result. Should that happen, there is a countermeasure that will probably at least restore the balance to what was before any ban on heading. I suggest that the countermeasure is to banish off-side offences and scrap the use of VAR too, except for goal-line decisions. |
| Forum Thread | The filter system at 19:36 8 Nov 2019
How does the filter system work? I have seen lots of (what I call) absolute rubbish posts on this otherwise excellent Forum. I would like to know how the filter system works so that I can identify in advance, the contributions of those posters that submit (what I call) absolute rubbish to the Forum. I have a few names lined up already...... |
| Forum Thread | Inovative suggestion at 19:56 28 Aug 2019
Now that we have seen the demise of Bury FC, wouldn't it be a good sporting idea for Rochdale AFC to run a bus from Gigg Lane to Spotland on match days so that our friends from Bury can get their football "fix" at The Dale. There is usually plenty of room in the Visitors' stand. It might also be considered to be a decent gesture if the offer was combined with half price admission for season ticket holders (the "true" fans) which would probably cover the hire charge from the bus company. |
| Forum Thread | Brexit and footballers at 19:27 7 Sep 2018
I read yesterday that the Premier League are lobbying the UK Brexit team to ensure that any restriction of foreign labour coming into the UK is avoided insofar as it affects foreign footballers over the age of 18 working in the UK. Conversely, the England manager, Gareth Southgate said today on TV that not enough English players feature in the Premier League. This appears to be just another ploy by the Premier Leagus to enrich themselves even more. It seems quite obvious to me and many others, that the foreign players are blocking the progress of potential British star players' progress and experience and this will not change for as long as the rules allow these imports if foreign labour. I will vote for Southgate's opinions. I say "Block these imports and keep the lid on importing foreign labour, especially footballers." Let's see what a difference that makes to the National football team(s). I hope the Brexit team just ignore the Premier League over this. |

Does anyone know of a fix that allows access to BT Sport via the internet so that I can watch the Champions League Final? |

Superb first half performance. So much better to watch than our overpaid underperforming premiership players. |
| Forum Thread | FA brings game into disrepute at 20:27 26 Apr 2017
The FA have done it again. Made a fool of themselves by issuing a fine to David Moyes of Sunderland for having a joke with a female reporter. Have they nothing better to do? (but don't mention Joey Barton) |
| Forum Thread | Barrow match on the internet? at 11:41 6 Jan 2017
Reported in todays Telegraph that Barrow have an ISDN line. Does this mean there is a posibility of internet access to the match or even video? Anyone know the implications and how it might work? |

I'll bet on Gillingham away. Any other guesses? The fixtures are out on Wednesday. |
| Forum Thread | A Coventry View at 12:22 7 Mar 2016
Just point your browser at the following website. http://thelonelyseason.club/match-reports/missing-set-of-wheels It's a lovely piece of prose that has flowed from the pen (keyboard) of Lawrence Kilpatrick - a fan (a loyal fan) if that's the right expression, of our recently vanquished opponents, expressing his views on his Saturday afternoon experience. Hilarious. Then read on with some of his previous match reports. It's a real entertainment. Honest! |
| Forum Thread | Goal of the decade? at 15:58 3 Feb 2016
In today's Telegraph, Gary Lineker describes the goal that Leicester's Jamie Vardy scored last night against Liverpool, the "Goal of the decade". Pity that Lineker wasn't at Spotland last Saturday to see Calum Camps score an identical goal. I guess Vardy just took a leaf out of Calum's book. |
| Forum Thread | That sending off at 20:46 12 Dec 2015
The decision to send off O'Sullivan was diabolical. I was there and at the time I thought that the Swindon player had slipped. Having now seen the Sky video and slowed it down to see the detail, I am convinced that the Swindon player went down well before the tackle and led with his knees. However he coiled as if he had been hit by an express train but managed to walk to the touchline moments later without the slightest limp. And the Ref was soooo close. He must have had this game as a banker home win. |

Do we still need reminding of that result on the Fans Forum? Much better would be to show the top 10 final positions in League 1 for last season. |
