And after awarding him a four-year deal during the summer

Not sure what else he was supposed to do, on their budget

The amount of cash being spent on manager compensation schemes is mindboggling. Some managers are receiving £10m+ pre tax payouts. We could run the entire League One/League Two divisions for the payments paid to failed Premiership/Championship managers in a season.

I don't know what the answer is, but it is obscene.

An early Christmas present it is.
He will be crying all the way to the bank.
And good luck to him.

Having won two Championship titles in three seasons with Norwich, I think he's perfectly entitled and expected to "pop up somewhere else".

Mourinho is the master. I'm convinced that he deliberately alienates the dressing room in order to get the boot....goodness knows how much he's banked over the years.

I seem to recollect after he left Spurs a figure of approx £80 million pound was suggested as the total of his pay outs on leaving Managerial positions.
Nice work if you can get it---certainly beats a minimum wage job

Totally agree,Maestro......the point is the astronomical figures in compensation to these heroes.

The real stupidity is the Norwich board offering him a four year contract just a few months ago

There was a pundit (MOTD) suggestion that he wasn't able to change a failing system. He's been there long enough for them to know that - including a previous relegation but also two championships. Did they think anything would be different this time around?

A new manager can have a galvanising effect, but there's only so much you can do at that level with merely good players. Dyche has shown he can do a great deal, as did Howe at Bournemouth, but it ends up as treading water

Managerial appointment of the year in the Premier League must go to Crystal Palace. Vieira's clearly got something, which will no doubt take him to one of the bigger fish before long. I could just imagine Keane's reaction if he ends up at Utd! (Actually, they seem to be good mates off the pitch.)

Two thirds of the Premiership are just there to make up the numbers. As mind numbing as it is to watch Rochdale play at home, being a supporter one of those "never" teams in the Prem must be worse. In some respects being a yoyo team like Norwich is not a bad thing , at least they get to win the Championship now and again. Its probably all they will ever win and similarly a dozen other clubs. The reality is the premiership is a contrived contest for 6 or 7 clubs which make and spend 100s of millions of pounds recruiting the best talent available and making obscene amounts of cash from off-pitch interests. The money the others get from TV is simply there to ensure a competition of some sort can take place. Most managers are almost an irrelevance, they are little more than actors in the play, they know their chances of winning anything are slim, the requirement is that they keep clubs on the Premiership stage and yet all the while knowing that 5 or 6 losses on the trot will make the merry-go-round turn another circle. Its a charade, everyone knows it, they take the money knowing full well it wont last long until their number is up and they can then wait in relative comfort for another desperate Chairman to call them. Or not.
