Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 17:37 - Mar 13 by SaxonDale | Good performance and great result- the players are still playing for BBM. Thought we got the ball forward well and looked a threat throughout. Humphrys scoring will hopefully be a huge boost for his confidence. Well done BBM and co. |
That is what we have been missing , getting the ball forward soon enough when we have eventually got forward the strikers are playing against a wall of defenders
Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 18:20 - Mar 13 with 4249 views | dalian | Cracking well deserved win, well done The Dale! Done been good for a few games now. Humps showed true grit today, Olly excellent and thought that Shaughnessy played decent, there's a player in there. Shocking decision to not give the pen but glad it didn't cost us. Main thing was our willingness to go forwards, long may it continue. Only criticism from me today...too many Cruyff/Zidane turns in silly areas of the pitch- even Bazunu was at it (Grant and Shaughnessy do it way too often)- keep it simple lads! Anyway, well played, onwards and upwards!

Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 18:42 - Mar 13 with 4083 views | NorthernDale | Perhaps he as stumbled on a workable formation and as somebody else posted, he playing the players in the right positions for a change. Next Saturday will be out doubt, be a lot more difficult, but BBM decides gets the team to go for it, which from all accounts he did today, we may get a positive result. May I ask how did Shaughnessy play, what I have seen off him, I am underwhelmed by his performances so far.

Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 20:18 - Mar 13 with 3616 views | EllDale | Wow what a result. Hadn’t invested in iFollow so it’s my own fault I didn’t see it live. That result will have smashed a few accumulators today. In terms of overturning the form book it’s got to be up there with the 3-0 win at Barnsley in the 1979 Doug Collins “great escape” and the time that we scored four on the plastic pitch at Preston in the 1980’s. The question remains though, when can we start playing anything like at home?! | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 20:19 - Mar 13 with 3608 views | JimmyRustler | Great performance and great win. Not to put a dampener on it and I know I’ll get accused of being a doom and gloomer but let’s not let this cloud the fact that the board are still inept and incompetent. As good as this win is, it doesn’t paper over the cracks regarding the hierarchical management of this club. Hopefully, this is the start of a new philosophy ON the pitch. Off the pitch, it’s still a shitshow.
Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 20:23 - Mar 13 with 3577 views | 442Dale | The similarities to 17/18 and 18/19 are there with the 5-3-2. Stay solid and try and get the midfield supporting the two up front. One of the main concerns this season is how we’ve stuck to tactics weeks after they’ve stopped working or not suitable to the players available. Right now, as long as McShane stays fit, this is the best one available, with Humphrys not isolated and someone sharing the work with him - Beesley to come back too.

Even if McShane isn't available we have Roberts or even McNulty that can come in to maintain the 532. Just hope McLaughlin and Keohane can stay fit to fill the wing back slots. Was noticeable today that the formation also gives us more height and physical presence at set pieces. Both attacking and defending. If we can have a run of games with a settled team and even get couple more back like Beesley there is still hope. Finally seen us win on ifollow after around 15 attempts.

Hard to believe. If it was announced "in the middle of the season" there would have been a lot of reaction (as now) instead of, erm, none. It's taken from the "middle of the season" until last Wednesday for at least one of the directors and every supporter to find out about it, which is unprecedented, as is the club's refusal to use the words "contract extension". The "Rochdale AFC declined to comment" report from Rochdale Online's query suggests "the club" don't wish to talk about it. Great result today which we are delighted with, but the issue of this contract extension on the back of horrendous form is not going to go away without a full and plausible explanation.

Indeed I'd say there's three aspects to this: 1) The philosophy/plan was put to one side to try and rescue our L1 status, in which case it may have been left too late, which would be extremely annoying (to say the least). It may be resumed next season in L2 2) The philosophy/plan was put to one side to try and rescue our L1 status, and it's successful, which will be extremely annoying (to say the least) since it indicates it was the wrong plan all along - something which we all knew, but which due to stubborn idiocy at the club put our future in jeopardy. It may be resumed next season in L1 3) The philosophy/plan has been put to one side, with a not-before-time realisation, perhaps on the back of desperately poor week by the club as a whole - that fans just won't put up with it. Halle-bloody-lujah! [Post edited 13 Mar 2021 20:51]

I read that before,a bit surprised but nice to read an honest and fair assessment by him... "We got what we deserved — we got nothing. It was 2-1 and probably should have been more,” said the Imps boss.

Strange that Lincoln’s manager, fans and local newspaper can all offer genuine praise to us, but our own local radio comes out with things like, ‘Rochdale take the lead but it was against the run of play.’

Fair and honest. Nice to hear a manager describing a bad performance as such, instead of saying it was "very very good" or "excellent", and the players "brilliant" and "amazing.
Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 07:57 - Mar 14 with 2542 views | todmordendale | It is such pleasure to see the players play in that manner yesterday. They are so capable when playing forward. We can only hope that the continued dissent of supporters at the playing around at the back tactics was finally acknowledged on Wednesday and it will prove to be the catalyst to good football, of which we are very capable. It’s strange how times change. During my younger years, it was always a cardinal sin to pass the ball around and across your own penalty area because one simple mistake would be capitalised upon. The fashionable and successful tactics of Spain, Barca, and Pep led many to believe that this was the way forward. However, only the most skilful of players are best suited to this. We are in League 1 and know our limitations and this type of tripe cannot be successful. Forward approach suits us better. I hope the ostrich has lifted his head. Please BBM, can we have more of this. C’mon the Dale

Match Thread: Lincoln vs Rochdale on 13:00 - Mar 14 with 1949 views | EllDale | I raised the option of playing a back three a few weeks ago but at the time we were struggling to find two fit centre backs so there was obviously no mileage in the idea at the time. Whether or not we have now started to use the formation by accident or by calculated design the fact is that it works with this particular group of players especially as we don’t have a recognised left back. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that a bit more defensive stability is evident now that McShane and McLaughlin are more regularly available. Keeping them fit will be vital now. I’ve been impressed by some of the skills shown by Grant in the last couple of games, definitely a neat footballer. And Done is totally revitalised by the looks of it, back to the player he was before his move to Sheffield. One swallow doesn’t make a summer of course but there is renewed hope now that we are back in the mix.
