| Forum Thread | Wh haven't the FA done something about diving? at 10:50 20 Oct 2014
Am I wrong in thinking the FA claimed a few seasons ago that they were clamping down on assimilation? They then decided that they would punish defenders for going in 'too strong' and then infom refs that if they're not sure whether or not there is contact in a challenge then they are allowed to just wave play on and not make a desicion. As a result it makes perfect sense for players to go down after the slightest bit of contact as the odds of them getting the result they want are stacked heavily in their favour, and even if they don't get the foul the likelihood is the ref will just ignore the sitiuation. Worst possible outcome, a yellow card! How often have you seen a yellow card shown for diving this season? How many times have you seen a ref wave his arms and scream play on after possible assimilation? I just don't understand how this still goes on when something like retrospective banning is an easy solution to a growing problem. Take the responsability off the refs, they clearly don't want it. For me Moses deserves a 3 match ban for going down yesterday, there is really no defence for giving a penalty. You will never stop players exaggerating the force of a challenge, but could easily make them think twice about doing it. |
