Nothing will truly change in this country until we have a Trump-like figure in 10 Downing Street—someone genuinely invested in the well-being of the nation and its people.

Set aside DJ Trump the personality, and judge him instead by his actions. Watch how he’s working to revitalise the United States and steer it in a new direction.

The world is shifting once again. Let’s hope these changes lead us toward a brighter and better future

I've got no faith whatsoever in the present government - Reeves just jetted off to Davos what for ? hasn't she got enough issues to solve here ? what's Davos got to do with the average man in the street? She should be here sorting out the mess not galivanting abroad .
The grooming gangs saga is looming larger as more revelations unfold by the day. The Rudakabana episode - another sorry mess involving the cabinet - Cooper and Starmer asleep at the wheel .

Her hero Starmer as shown in a recent clip posted on here prefers Davos from Westminster so that gives you some idea why she's gone there.

Is there any data on the ethinticity of the majority of the people being stabbed, and those doing the stabbing, because it seems to me (I may be wrong) that the vast majority are non white.

Every year, they jet off to Davos in their private planes and ride around in gas-guzzling cars, only to lecture the rest of us 'ordinary people' on how to reduce our carbon footprint. The hypocrisy couldn’t be more glaring.

Weapon of choice for too many , including white folk but predominately coloured in some areas which is not identified in this survey

That's basicaly what I was alluding to, how can anyone hope to cut the problem of knife crime, when you aren't allowed to speak of the main perpetrators.

Very same reason why grooming gangs were able to continue to commit their vile crimes for so long.

Davis is where a while host of powerful people go and lots of economic issues are discussed, if she can positively impress people there then it could well make a difference to the man on the street in terms of increased investment and prosperity, if you don’t try…..

Our last government failed to invest in increasing prison capacity and as a result we now have a situation where we’re having to release some to detain others. The Rudakabana episode has been handled correctly within existing guidance and protocols regardless of the BS published in many places.

He had come to the notice of prevent before the fatal attack . He had attacked pupils previously with a hockey stick . How the hell can that be deemed handled correctly . He had a history of violence and was a ticking timebomb . As for Reeves no one in their right minds is going to listen to her. A previous work colleague is on record as saying she was a customer complaints clerk for the same bank . She was always absent so they had her followed and found out she was doing labour party business instead of being off sick or at the dentists as she claimed . So they got rid . She has no business acumen or experience and no economics qualifications .

We have a democratic system in this country in which we vote whom governs us , I do not recall ever Davos being mentioned nor voted for , yet another collective in which major decisions taken by unelected powerful people who can influence policy or put another way "It is where billionaires tell millionaires what the middle class feels,", I'm not although could be describing the EU but I'm not its Davos.

I haven’t said the referrals to Prevent were handled correctly, at this moment in time none of us are privy to what exactly happened after the referrals were submitted. What we do know is Alex Rudakubana was referred to Prevent 3 times before the attack, 2019 and twice in 2021.
Prevent is the government anti radicalisation programme, IF Rudakubana didn’t show any signs of terrorist radicalisation during his assessment, then it makes sense that he wouldn’t be suitable for the Prevent counter programme.

It appears the Prevent people identified potential concerns which fell outside their remit and there are reports stating “Prevent” recommended Rudakubana be referred to other services, but what we don’t know is whether he was referred, if he was to who and what exactly happened afterwards.

I suspect that if he was referred anywhere, it would have been to the local police force and social services for some kind of review/intervention. There is going to be an enquiry in to this and we’ll learn more.

I know police forces have teams to manage the really high risk violent offenders, but they tend to be adults with a prolific offending history. This monster may not have had the offending history, but the alarm bells should have been sounding.

We don't need to increase prison capacity. What we do need to do is ensure that only people who the public need to be protected from are imprisoned.

Far, far too many first time or non-violent offenders are given jail time when community sentences are more suitable. Prison should be reserved for violent or persistent repeat offenders.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yes, and technology allows people to be given curfews and have their movement tracked etc. there's potentially more options these days for dealing with low level offenders.

I’m not in agreement with the first sentence, but I agree with the rest. I would stop the short term sentences and try to ensure as much effort is put in rehabilitating through community based sentences, however when that approach fails I’d adopt a ruthless approach. Offenders would go down for a minimum 2 years and they would undergo educational activities, training programmes so when they come out they’ve been given the skills to make a good living without resorting to offending. If they don’t take the chance, then the next time it’s 4 years and so on. No half sentences, you serve what you’re given.

I wish I could agree with you.

I've been in meetings with prison education people who have done their level best to provide excuses for their failure with rehabilitation. I have genuinely listened to someone explain why people in prison can't be forced to attend literacy classes.

The obvious response to that is "Bollocks! They're in Prison! You can make them wear pink tutus all day and read nothing but JK Rowling if you want to. That's the point of prison". Sadly the idea of forcing people undergoing custodial sentences to do anything is a non starter to those involved in such situations.

There has to be a starting point instead of initiatives in word only.

To start an automatic heavy fine, custodial or at least some long term community order for anyone carrying a knife. Not even brandished just carried.

There is no time for long term initiatives, they can run alongside, but something immediate is needed

Bottom line is why they take on a life of crime .
It’s easier than working legitimately for a living .
Kids can have all “ stuff” without ever paying PAYE .
It’s our biggest social issue
Is there a deterrent ?

The problem is not when they are in prison , it's when they are released. No housing, no jobs, no support , so it's back to re offending

Re offending accounts for about 80% off all crime. Stop this and we basically stop crime. Of course, there will always be spur of the moment actions, but it will go a long way towards crime prevention. Surely, it's better to be pro active than reactive.

As I said at the end of the post Initiatives take time and can be the long term solution, but something needs to happen now, before even more lives are threatened and lost.
