Mixed Feelings 10:11 - Nov 3 with 894 views | Ifonly | A win is a win and always worth celebrating. Even more so if it is the first of the season when we looked as though we would struggle to get one. But, in the cold light of day, I think that this was also the worst result of the season so far because I think we'll look back at yesterday and see it as the day that confirmed relegation. This result means RM will be here for the foreseeable future and that confirms that it will be too late when they decide to dump him. If we had played really well and destroyed Everton it might be different. But the truth is that we were poor and a bit lucky to win. Ramsdale was our best player and that says a lot. There was nothing there to say that we won't go back on our losing streak again soon. Everton were equally poor, but I still expect them to finish above us. I hope I'm wrong but that's my opinion.

Mixed Feelings on 10:26 - Nov 3 with 831 views | SaintNick | Thats a bit pessimistic, yes we did need a bit of luck, but all teams need that, but this game showed that perhaps we have changed our mindset a little, the issue with Russell martin has been his inability to adapt his tactics to suit his squad, yesterday we seemed to have changed a little and that is good.

Some overdue luck if you ask me. Thought Lallana had a great game (albeit could see he began to struggle). Easily one of our best players and needs to be involved whenever possible. [Post edited 3 Nov 10:33]

Mixed Feelings on 10:42 - Nov 3 with 762 views | grumpy | Now I have got over the euphoria of winning two in a row,I have to admit we were very poor yesterday. Stoke a struggling Championship side almost beat us and one of the poorest Everton sides could have snatched a draw at the end. Easy to retain possession if you pass it sideways and backwards. Martin will now carry on and I cant see us improving under him.

Another game where it took nearly 40 minutes to wrap a shot at goal. It really is like watching paint dry

Problem is we are still inviting trouble with our passing at the back, and gave the ball away on several occasions, other possession teams pass out from the back but move the ball up field QUICKLY! we don't, and we get caught out in our third. Change this and we might have a chance, but RM takes too long to see this. The one Change we are making is we're getting the ball to Archer a bit quicker through Fernández, but we need to do more all over the pitch. Rusty needs to look at B'mouth to get some ideas.

We are so slow from the back and that’s down to Bednarek and stephens, they always look to play sideways or Backwards and our passing is never quick and incisive Ramsdale as good as he is keeps hold of it for way too far too often We just can’t get up the field quickly at all when we gain the back at the back from a corner or just generally Yesterday two or three times the same thing happened when Everton had to ball and from Pickford they played three or four quick passes and were up in our box

The dopamine hit of three consecutive first pumps from Martin is enough to sway even the most pessimistic fan in his favour.

I’ve never thought that Sports Republic would sack Martin having given him a new three year contract simply because there is no upside for them, only a financial downside. After yesterday’s very fortunate but nonetheless welcome victory Martin’s position is even more secure. Clubs don’t normally avoid Premiership relegation having obtained one point from their first nine games nor for that matter four from ten. Because of Sports Republics ineptitude during the close season and the last transfer window our destination for season 25/26 is The Championship with Martin in charge at least initially.
