Team GB on 18:20 - Dec 6 by Gwyn737 | Spot on. Plus the fact that traditions have to start somewhere, otherwise they wouldn’t become traditions. I’m not keen on Olympic football as I don’t think it would be there at all, not because of the Team GB thing. Slagging off Team GB is slagging off all those welsh competitors who have been proud to wear the shirt. |
& that should be down to the choice of the person. Its unlikely that many Welsh women footballers will ever play in a competition in their careers & this was an opportunity to shine on the big stage. It was fine for Ramsey, Bellamy ,Joey Allen & others to play in the last Olympics but the cave dwelling Welsh nats hate it.

It was not fine for them to play. No Scot played. Nobody from the north of Ireland played. No Cymro should have played. How did they get on anyway ….?

I do not get it that the flagmen go in for abuse "cavemen" etc but the return insult will probably get blocked or a stiff reminder.

BBC Turkce (in Turkish) refers in Turkish to the 'Ingiltere basbakan' English prime Minister and 'Ingiiz ordusu' English Army. This is the BBC. The idea that they are accurate and reliable went along time ago.

Our team is announced by the FAW as Cymru in both languages. Others like the BBC can call us what they like. The only thing that matters is what we call ourselves. I hope you enjoy the team announcement for the recent womens international vs Germany at the Liberty.

You should show more respect to ideas you do not agree with. Neanderthal Cavemen etc. Remember you are using my flag the Union flag. Uk today represents liberal values and free speech without harassment. You are an overtly political poster. On a football forum primarily to promote political ideas.

whos Shirley? Well when someone has served in the forces for instance was Queen and country. So I am Welsh and I love the job the forces have done for us at home and overseas. I love the union. But I can see the Nationalist view aswell. Basically unionist and nationalist are the same side of a different coin. Today they call unionist racist tomorrow it will be Nationalists. Our national identity is important it is what defines us. If someone is proud to be British 🫡 If someone is proud to be Welsh 🫡 We are here to support the Swans and mix. If we all thaght the same way this site would be pointless mate.

I am for Wales self rule but have a problem in that i am not socialist. Both Labour and PC want more money from Westminster for benefits and that is their main line of thinking. Posters with Union flags calling other 'cavemen' and those 'dark narrow valleys with dark narrow people" is political spin and on a daily basis must be seen a harmful propaganda. This might have some traction isf this site is read by 15 year olds. Drakeford went to Qatar with the Welsh FA and some Dpt of Trade people. I my view he went there to sell Wales as a place to invest. The the activists of Labour and PC he went to lecture them on LGBT+ rights.

Did you notice Wales next to the FAW badge in the top left hand corner. The FAW still calls it Wales, the Cymru is a nickname. A bit like Swansea and Swans.

Presumably the FAW could instruct UEFA and FIFA of a permanent name change. It would have to be used in international draws etc. Wales is known as Pay de Galles in French speaking places and Galler in Turkish speaking places. I lived in Turkiye and they call us Galler. They have the Galata tower in Istanbul linked to the Galician who lived in Anatolia in Roman times. Galata-saray is the palace of the Gallicians. There are proven Celtic burial sites near where I worked. Gallicia is also a region of Spain It is unclear if the Welsh are related to the Anatolians Galicians in the holy books. 'Celt' these days is seen as too vague a word. The insular Celts have been renamed as Ancient Britons cutting the link to the Anatolian Celts by some historians.

Except thats not true. ‘The team should always be called Cymru, that’s what we call it here,” Mooney said. “Our view at the moment is that domestically we’re clearly called Cymru. That’s what we call our national teams. If you look at our website, how we talk about ourselves, we are very much Cymru.” Noel Mooney is CEO of the FAW. Nobody higher. I didn’t realise being the CEO of the FAW allowed you to legislate people’s language…. Why do you think it’s called the FAW? Surely that should be in Welsh too? From my point of view I’ve no issue whatsoever with Cymru on shirts, tickets, TV scores etc. I’ll continue to call it wales. Doesn’t make me any less a fan or a patriot.

What is your opinion on someone from Wales such as former Paratrooper Lee Matthews from Caldicot or Welsh Guardsman Craig Godsall from Newport, both competitors wearing the Union Flag on their left breast clothing ?
