Horrendous scenes in Las Vegas. The videos make me feel sick, the amount of rounds being fired there is going to be a serious amount of casualties I think.
Terrible world we now live in.

A spectacular day out in the country and a quick kill.
Our government wants to re introduce it. Just Fookme
American love of hunting is resulting in them killing tens of thousands of their folk each year, this because their love of hunting means they have access to high powered weapons .funnily enough they can be misused to kill en massie
Quick there Phil . Dildos is a word that seems free of apostrophe abuse
Anyway, should Americans feel dumb for believing their love of hunting rifles etc is one of the reasons thousands are blown away by nutters who can freely access these weapons
Clarification for timer, not the the disgusting interlopers in this thread
" you" meant to be taken in generic context of your country and its obsession with firearms..
Because so many enjoy hunting ,it gives you problems as the proliferation of guns is seen as a sport
Or ,assault weapons used for self defence
Quite htf to us British manage eh
I don't even carry a hunting knife when I go for a walk when I might need to use one on self defence
Tum....you, as a country ,need to be brave and accept its not mid 19 century and you re still fighting Mexicans ,or basically herding them off their lands as you did with native Americans whom you butchered in their millions .

I believe Europeans were responsible for the genocide of most of the indigenous people of the Americas - and most of them died of disease, not by bullets.
Too many cowboy films for you.

They're not us though Tummer. They left to become you :-)
Incidentally, this whole thread appears to be on an amazing tangent. People from farms or rural communities hunting with a shot gun is not strange in the slightest. They do here as well.
I don't personally like hunting even for food - I wouldn't do it myself (although as a meat eater I recognise the hypocrisy). But my brother in law works for the National Trust for example, and he's previously been in charge of estates where he and others will cull deer etc to keep the herds healthy. Farmers will regularly shoot rabbits, or foxes as part of land management, and the hunting of grouse etc is also about land management (pheasant less so as these days they are bred specifically for hunting purposes to maximise the take for the estate).
Very different to trophy hunting which is utterly disgusting, and very different to people owning handguns or semi automatic weapons.
I read yesterday by the way, that 3% of the American population own 50% of the guns!
The bit that's horrifying is that the shooter in Vegas was allowed to buy so many guns over a short period without it being flagged. Just doing that would be a start. And it seems that this whole business about legal or otherwise has been a red herring, as everything he had was, in fact, legal.

Agreed 100%. For me, the very popular "sport" in Texas of deer hunting is particularly disturbing because they are such beautiful creatures. And in a state filled with possums, armadillos, and rattlesnakes, I can't say that about much of our other native species.
Yet I love venison (deer) sausage, not only for the taste but also because it is much leaner and healthier than pork or beef, so I feel like a hypocrite.

I’ve never tried a venison sausage, but now I fear we’re in danger of straying into Benny Hill territory.

Why the hell would anyone waste venison in a sausage!!

Slightly on this point, a really interesting, if not s little heavy at points, read that looks at the disease argument. I enjoyed it....
As for the topic itself, there are many reasons put out for the decline of native American populace; disease, brutal tribal wars, possible genocide, cross breeding of groups etc.

'Possible genocide.' This is an enlightening read on that subject.
If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--forever.

Okay possible wasn't the best term to use there, as forms of genocide took place, on both sides, indiscriminate killing of both adults and children (scalpings a common thing by the tribal sides on both opposing tribes and European settlers). It still does not change the fact that other factors were as important, if not more so on the decline of native tribes in the area.

Shades of grey and all that.
Genocide did not take place on both sides at all.

Killing adults and children and scalping people does not equal genocide.
Fighting an invader does not equal genocide, even if done so in an unpleasant manner.
