Embarrassing... 23:08 - Aug 5 with 9132 views | MorSwan | Just read that all looks agreed for Ayew to join West Ham... I am honestly quite embarrassed that we're selling arguably our best player to one of our rivals. Yeah, we may be getting a lot for him but what's money like that if we aren't going to spend it on someone better? Borja Baston's been linked, everybody seems satisfied. Llorente is a decent signing but it won't be enough to take us to the next level. Probably our first summer since we've been in the Premier League where we've had a chance to take the club to the next level on the pitch and we've sat back and watched it walk past. I'm honestly gutted and disappointed that we are willing to let Ayew go off to West Ham. [Post edited 5 Aug 2016 23:14]

It really annoys me when sheeple just go with the lazy narrative and don't appreciate the player for what he was. Sure he made some mistakes and definitely play acted but Ash made more mistakes than Chico did.

IF we get this lad Baston in I will be happy with the changes we have made up top. Personally if we get Oliveria in McBurnie may as well be moved on if he is not 3rd choice now afraid he won't make it. |
McBurnie is about 20. I dont think the club will expect him to be in first team match day squad just yet. More likely to follow Grimes, King, Shepherd, Hedges, Gorre, Vickers, etc out on loan. Whether any of them ever make the Swans first team remains to be seen. Waste of time if at least some dont.

20 is the age where he should be staking a place in the squad if he's got much about him.

Probably correct mate. I think the club have kept quite a number of players around for way longer recently, and its not really paid off. Which basically proves your point ðŸ‘. The emergence of Joe, Ben, and Jazz also all support what you say. Its tough and a big big ask.

Theatrics aside he was a mediocre defender who was good on the ball and had flair, which was entertaining at times but not stable. He's also chosen to waste his prime years in a desert pub league showing a sh*t attitude and a love of histrionics that was increasingly apparent during his time here.

Keeping young players around well after they realistically should have broken into the side is something that's carried over from the Martinez era. He made a big song and dance about how Spanish clubs gave them more time. One of the first things he did was bring Chad Bond back on a new contract after KJ had released him. One of the first things Sousa (I think, might have been Rodgers) did was get rid of him again.

Yes it was Paulo who released him. To be fair he was straight up with him, unlike his sneaky counterpart...

Totally disagree with this. Other than your top players, how many players have been playing premier league football at 20? Personally I think McBurnie et al have a few years of development ahead of them - better to send them out on loan playing regularly than have them play the odd 20 mins here and there

This. Find a Championship team/ top end L1 team that plays a similar way to us, or at least plays football rather than hoof (and doesn't expect players to slap their head like a tw@) and loan our youngsters out. Better they're playing regular fully competitive football against good players as a way of progressing.

We do loan out the majority of promising kids, I don't know where this idea that they're just hanging around comes from.

Maybe its the likes of previous young players - now all gone - who appeared to be at the club for 5 or 6 years without ever hitting the bench and without going on any meaningful loan. Seems to have changed over last two seasons maybe. Be interesting to see the results of us buying in ready made young players (mostly from Falkirk !), and then lending them out to other clubs. Kingsley may prove the point as he was excellent at the end of last season. Be intetesting to watch - Gorre, King, Shepherd, Hedges, Vickers etc when they do get back to the Liberty.
