1. We have seen an increasing trend for deals to be done later and later, with both player, agent and the selling club looking for the maximum cash and letting the panic build up (as well as the player and agent looking around for every offer possible, just look at what Tom Ince is doing currently. Many of the clubs also need to sell to buy, hence the position Shane Long found himself in during the August window.
2. Take anything in the media with a pinch of salt - Agents are looking for deals, both in terms of transfers and getting players improved deals at their current clubs. The media are looking for stories and desperate to compete with each other in printing supposed "exclusives" - I'll let you draw the links there.
3. Our Board work under the radar- Countless examples of this in terms of both player and manager recruitment, the price and the player have to be right, and we don't do panic buys often.
I know with the current form we're all getting on edge, and we all agree we need to strengthen, so let's not panic just yet and see what happens, Feb 1st will be the time to judge.
