Kuqi Released By Swans - Is Free Too Much For Rams?
Kuqi Released By Swans - Is Free Too Much For Rams?
Thursday, 27th Jan 2011 07:00 by Daniel J Sewart

Former Derby County Loan striker Shefki Kuqi has been released by Welsh club Swansea City and is now available on a free for one very lucky club!

The fabulous Finn was a popular figure at Pride Park after answering his old friend Robbie Savages S.O.S when the Rams were devoid of any firepower up front.

Kuqi was an integral part of the Rams successful winning streak that found them within a breath of second on the table. He scored goals, held up the ball and took the focus off the team’s creative forwards buzzing around him.

When his loan expired it was not renewed to the frustration of many a fan as Clough showed a preference for Luke Moore who later returned Nigel’s faith by inserting a dagger in his heart - blighter!

Many Rams followers still cite Kuqi leaving the club as the turning point that triggered the Rams slide down the table. A manager should never sign players to just appease his supporters but in this case I think most of us would like an exception that rule.

Nigel PLEASE bring Shefki back!!

A fan favourite amongst Derby supporters the club could do a lot worse than picking up the Finnish International on a short term contract, at least till season end, to add some striking depth to their ranks.

With all of the talk around DCFC of wages, transfer fees and budgets, you would like to think a free player who is popular with the fans and proven in the preferred formation of the coaching staff, would be too good to resist.

We are crying out for players who work hard, digs in and most importantly can be paid in loose change. Kuqi would seem to tick that box especially now no fee would be involved.

He led by example and the Rams need that leadership again.

Unfortunately logic and Derby County rarely seem to mix in the same circles and as much as I am normally behind Nigel 100% this situation seems too good to resist (make that 96.5% now).

I would suggest true to form, resist the Rams will.

Would be an obvious move but like you, I'm not holding my breath.

Too obvious for the American owners who care more about the both
Line than Derby County.
Let's get them out and someone who really cares about our football club in
Nigel is given no money and there is no hope whilst this lot are in charge.
No ambition, no money , no hope.
Let's get em out Now

What's the 'both Line?'

It would seem an obvious move and a salvation forClough & team if Kuqi were approached and willing to play, until the summer. Clough has a whole £300k to psend on wages, after all.

If it is not pursued, fans will want a full explanation and rapid redress of an alternative course of action to shore up the team yet again.

I don't think we will be seeing Kuqi anytime soon, not even if he paid us to play. From a good source he fell out with Nigel and so was frozen out.
