Players to go/New Signings 14:08 - Apr 9 with 5700 views | Dougal_RBlock | It's fair to say that whether we like it or not, there's gonna be another load of wholesale changes in the summer. Players that we can't wait to get rid of and unfortunately players we wished we could keep (Remy). But we need to sort out the transfer policy of the club - already I've seen mentions of Kevin Phillips..... 4yrs ago I might have taken him. Yes he can make an impact off the bench but we already have a player like that in Andy Johnson, Who with his injury record and contract will be going no where in the summer. We DO need a bit of experience in the club, but that doesn't mean we go and sign 11 players who are 40+ coming to the end of there. So here is my list of players who i think will be leaving and REALISTIC players that we could replace them with....... Out Remy £8mil £60k p/w wages Taarabt £8-£10mil £40k Zamora £3pound if were lucky Samba £8-£10mil Green £2mil Cesar £5mil Green £2mil In Rasak (city) loan Pantilmon (city) loan Tomkins £4mil Alex Pearce £4mil Morrison (reading) £4mil? Ross McCormack £4m Jordan Rhodes £6mil £20k Charlie Austin £8mil £25-£30k p/w I would be more than happy if that list came in, and it would be one strong enough to challenge, youthful and full of goals. Please note they were not direct like for like swaps. So please dont say McCormack is no where near as good as Taarabt etc etc [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Remy - we will probably get back the £8m we paid for him Taarabt - Possibly get £5m, of which 40% goes to Spurs Zamora - Unlikely to attract any interest, so will stay Samba - Might have to go back to Russia to recoup our outlay Green - Will leave for free maybe back to West Ham, Stoke or Wigan Cesar - His performances have been inconsistent; he has been injured & I don't think he is suited to the English League. Despite rumours, I think he will go back to Italy Granero - Likely to go back to Spain for £3m Hoilett - May want to leave too, and try to force a move Mackie - Should stay with us for next season, as he will have more impact. But there might be some interest from teams like Stoke, West Ham, Wigan, Norwich for him. Could attract as much as £1m. Cannot see anybody else worth any money, so we will definitely have to buy some new players.

Players to go/New Signings on 15:05 - Apr 9 with 4352 views | Flex | If fans' think a simple players out/in will resolve our mess of a club then you really have another thing coming. The players we have signed since promotion highlight the lack of scouting network, and transfer policy. Contrast this with Swansea, Southampton and Norwich, all of which have coincidently changed managers, as we have done. Fact of the matter is, the club is rotten from the core, and we need people on board, backroom and field with footballing nous. We need a footballing philosophy, an ethos because throwing money at things is not the answer. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I appreciate we're pretty disillusioned with the dross we've seen this season - but you are seriously pulling down our pants there! These are players we have under contract, and although some of their reps have taken a knock many will be in demand. Mackie £1m for example? On what planet? Decent player, under contract, good attitude and reputation - name an equivalent player you could get for £1m?

Bit strong to say, the club is rotten from the core, how do you work that out ? The owners have said, they are going to invest in a new training ground, get a youth academy and much more, can't see us being rotten. Obviously the owners made the biggest mistake of all, in employing Hughes, but that don't mean our club is rotten !!

I would love to be able to say to Tony Pulis: 'Tone, he's all yours for £1m. Will even throw in the train fare to Stoke'. But it just ain't gonna happen. I am not saying he's a bad player. In fact I like him a lot. But he is simply not a Premiership standard player. I can only think of a couple of clubs that would be interested in buying him (Wigan, Norwich, Stoke), but nobody will pay anywhere near £1m for him. It's not that there are plenty of players out there for £1m who can play in the Premiership, but I just can't see him being sold for that amount. I think you will find that the longer the transfer window goes on, the more insulting offers we will get for players. Tony has to decide when enough is enough, and how much is enough.

Players to go/New Signings on 16:52 - Apr 9 with 4197 views | 00calben | Out of contract: Fábio(loan) Andros Townsend (loan) Tal Ben Haim Brian Murphy Hogan Ephraim Rob Hulse Troy Hewitt Radek Cerny DJ Campbell Out (if we can find anyone to take them on loan or a free - we'd still likely be subsiding wages): Bobby Zamora Anton Ferdinand José Bosingwa Joey Barton Angelo Balanta Players we could get money for: Loïc Rémy (8m) Christopher Samba (7m) Adel Taarabt (5m) Esteban Granero (3m) Stéphane Mbia (1m) Djibril Cissé (1m) Júlio César (500k) Looking down the list of out-of-contract players, I would be looking at the below realistic targets on free transfers: First team: Matthew Bates / Craig Cathcart Sylvan Ebanks-Blake / Simeon Jackson Lewis McGugan / Chris Burke / Nick Bailey Squad players (on far less wages than our current "squad players"): Tom Heaton / Marián Kello Kirk Broadfoot / Martin Cranie Martin Paterson / Danny Haynes Plus one or two "big-money" (in Championship terms) high-quality signings (who are actually hungry to play for the Football Club)

That would be the same Tony Pulis who paid £5m for Cameron Jerome, £7m for Kenwyne Jones, £3m for Michael Kighley, £5m for Dean Whitehead etc etc etc Are they 'Prem standard' player by your definition?

We as fans need to take the blinkers off. Just because we a have an affable chairman, doesn't mean that the club isn't a mess. Hughes wasn't the problem per se, we placed more importance in growing and promoting a global brand than on a defined player acquisition strategy, and preparing for our second season. Who's 'fault' was that? Spending more than our revenue and all the related problems of disharmony between players. Barton and his constant misdemeanours. Publically critising Adel, Warnock. Despite playing in France, he is still contracted with us. Sacking Gallen by email. 12 red cards since promotion. Over 50 players used in two seasons, just point to lack of planning and overarching philsophy. Lack of scouting network. The players we bought to 'save' our season are simply laughable. We should be looking at younger more progressive managers and players. Build a an ethos whereby if a key member of staff, or player leave, then we can rebuild and be just as strong. Again, see Norwich, Southampton, and Swansea. Just compare and contrast us to those three clubs.

Players to go/New Signings on 17:55 - Apr 9 with 4096 views | WestbourneR | I don't agree with this AT ALL. As long as the parachute money is around, I am very very sure we will make a big effort to keep an unusually large number of our players to ensure we are too strong for the Championship. Eg. Mbia will stay - especially if you think we'd only get 1 million! Madness to sell him. Are we really going to get promoted bringing in Craig Cathcart? No. I just think you're being a bit stupid.

Players to go/New Signings on 20:49 - Apr 9 with 3960 views | Ranger78 | Our transfer policy really has been crazy since the PL. Reading all the posts above, some players get mentioned all of the time, but there are lots who are currently playing no part that hardly get a mention ....Granero, Johnson, Cisse, Young, Suk-Young, SWP and Bothyroyd to name a few Nobody has mentioned Faurlin or Diakite yet either. It really is frightening just how many players we have on our books. It is one hell of a mess and will not be easy to put right
