Ted??
I think his name was Ted. Not our Ted, nor likely to be anyone on this board as he gave his favourite players as Adel and Kevin Gallen rather than Barry Bridges and Rodney Marsh.....

I think I got an 8 there with medicine - unless there was only one 'e'
I stopped watching Countdown ages ago but catch the 8 out of 10 does Countdown which is actually a better format I reckon.

Countdown / cats is not the same since Sean Lock departed . I thought Jon Richardson and himself bounced iof each other quiet well . It’s just knob gags now and bad ones at that.

Worth picking it up again - Colin Murray is really excellent on it. Revitalised it.
Go Ted today!
The Anne Robinson period was particularly dire. She took a delight in making the contestants feel uncomfortable. Someone should have told her that it wasn’t “The Weakest Link.”

She nearly killed a long-running show single-handedly with her venomous ways (off-set as well, allegedly). Colin is totally the opposite, brought back the warmth and I think is the best the show has ever had. Not that I work from home and watch it, you understand.

Dis he mention his favourite cheese? That would have been the giveaway.
"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

Ha -- no. But Colin did end the show with "QPR 1 Birmingham 0" (opponent was a Birmingham fan) - not something I ever thought I would hear on Countdown.

Agreed, carrot in a box sketch still makes me cry with laughter! It’s not the same without Sean. As an aside, I saw Bill Bailey last year who had learnt to play the bagpipes to play a lament as a tribute to his old friend Sean.

Further proof that we're not missing Dykes.

I love Colin Murray - one of our great broadcasters
He’s been brilliant on the Championship highlights where he actually knew about the teams and fans, Fighting Talk on Radio 5, Countdown, his late night Radio 5 show. He also did a great podcast series called Blood on the Tracks I highly recommend where people talk about their favourite music.
Best of all he immediately resigned from Talksport years ago when Murdoch bought it, saying he’s a Liverpool fan and he couldn’t do it. Don’t see a lot of that these days

Agree - I really miss his late night show. Gordon Smart was so boring in comparison and gone over to podcasts now.

Sean locks take on the children’s book “ The tiger comes to tea” is genuinely one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen . It’s on You tube somewhere . I’m not usually back from work to see Colin Murray’s work on the show but I’m sure his enthusiasm shines through.

Thanks for that. I'd not heard of or seen it before until now.

Yeah, me too, Scot.
Going on YouTube at the end of a day of stress and just life in general it's just a great quick hit of inoffensive, quick witted humour. Carrot in a box, the classic, plus the Chris Eubank impersonation you mentioned earlier, then there's the Glory Hole, and "That's a difficult wink" amongst numerous other fantastic one liners.
So many witty, intelligent and funny in their own way, guests on that show and I never bore of rewatching the clips.
Literally just seen (again) the classic Joe Wilkinson poem.
