I am fairly sure I never had a good word to say about him from the day he was announced as a QPR player. I received a lot of abuse on here for it but I have yet to read a single thing about him that would make me regret my stance. I felt, and still feel the same, about candleface. Both pondlife IMO. Yours is not a unique view, Ned. On here the majority of us seemed to be uncomfortable with that signing. Maybe not immediately as maybe he'd changed, but when rumours of him undermining Warnock surfaced, a lot of us wanted him out.

Reading between the lines here, it's obvious one of our best players ever and the peoples' champion, has been the victim of a heinous wrong. Clearly, she headbutted his foot!

I think it is very sad that this individual has been given the opportunity to grow wealthy and lead a life so far removed from many of those supporters who wished him success whilst at our club, I think that if this man was at certain other clubs around the world his behavior would not have been tolerated, not that any sport should be used to inflict serious harm.

We might whine about Nourry, Madsen, Ashby, or whoever but it really wasn't that long ago that we 'lost our soul'. Even the badge was shite.

Kicking a woman in the head is the lowest of the low.
Kicking anyone in the head is ridiculously violent but attacking a woman in such a way is completely indefensible and totally vile.
The worst thing about this is his wife / partner is still with him and is now siding with him saying it didn't happen and the 999 call was inaccurate. She is attending court with him too.
Probably talked her into it. Which is awful in itself also.
One day he is going to do something that there is no coming back from and he will be put away for a very long time.

Hate the bloke. Thought it was telling in that Bradley Orr interview a while ago that Barton decided to make it his personal mission to 'smash' Taarabt in training to prove a point. Whatever you might think of Adel's lax attitude to training, he was a massive player for us and Barton, who never had 10% of his ability, went out of his way to try and injure him and undermine the manager's authority in the process. Not the worst thing he's ever done (it's a long list) but demonstrative of his character. | | | |

Barton's nastiness aside, you do have to wonder about his wife's part in it, which smells a bit fishy. How can a 999 call be 'inaccurate' for instance? If it's on tape, it's rather objective, surely? As any good journo knows, there are two sides (and usually many more) to every story! The complicity of femininity, love, and (over-) forgiveness is a real cultural clusterf*ck, for which the dregs of Christianity are partly responsible. The battle of the sexes is also a thing, however, and erotic love can and does tip over into rough stuff at times, probably a lot more often than gets reported. DH Lawrence and his wife Frieda periodically came to blows in both directions, and there was that grimly entertaining case of Lee Chapman (allegedly) putting Leslie Ash in hospital, which she later ascribed to 'energetic sex' and set on record that he was 'no wife-beater' while her sister puzzlingly insisted he was.
Just for the record, and although the media give a lot of (often warranted) oxygen to 'toxic masculinity', women can be toxic too. I got stuck in a relationship with an abusive woman that ended in a nasty court case (because, as both my family and female friends told me later, I'm 'too nice' and not masculine enough at times), but in a way that gave me a helpful dollop of belated empathy for women who stay with toxic partners I didn't have before.
While I admire Barton's attempt to refine his mind through the study of philosophy, quite welcome some aspects of his cantankerous attitude toward the woke, and have some mixed feelings about him overall (he's not all bad - no one is), he's probably not a guy I'd want to have a drink with, as I'd be worried a shard of his glass might get lodged in my cheek if things got a bit shirty. More importantly, his QPR career was an indisputable embarrassment for the club from start to finish. [Post edited 25 Jan 15:12]
