Fresh from our latest success, an impressive victory over Wimbledon on Tuesday night in the Vertu Trophy DC looks to maintain their unbeaten run to eight games and to overtake today’s opposition with a victory at fortress JCS.
Nelson Jardim brings his Exiles from South Wales sitting in 17th place with 22 points from 18 games whilst Colchester remain 18th with 21 points from 18 games.
Colchester weather will be 6 degrees Celsius, dry, partly sunny with a slight breeze.
Another busy day today means another truncated preview.
Colchester to win 3-0 with Lyle Taylor again on target.
Team:
Macey
Egbo Flanagan Donnelly Iandolo
Thorn McDonnell Payne Edwards
Taylor Tovide
Subs; Smith Hunt Read Gordon Sandah Kells Bishop
Although close to Christmas, recent results means that we might see 5,000 at the JCS roaring the Super U’s onto another fine victory.
Enjoy the game

Hope you're right about the score Durham, that's what I've gone for on the U'sual PL. After your impressive Swindon prediction I'm expecting great things!

Don't get the love affair with Anderson over Taylor or Thorn Durham? I'm missing summat, but p'raps he'll score three!!
You are absolutely right Pinot. He is well down the pecking order for me, however Anderson is DC's favourite.
Oscar Thorn is the future and his play on the right wing creates chances.
I can only imagine that DC doesn't think he can play Lyle Taylor for back to back games. Let us hope that DC relents and gives both Taylor and Thorn 45 minutes each.

Well at least Oscar Thorn has been brought on for Anderson still no Taylor though!

Yes, I hope the lad has a good half and wins himself the place. He's always looked promising. Newport are a tough side to crack but at least we've not conceded yet!

Eight unbeaten
But maybe two thrown away.

Maybe so Durham but the opposition are above us in the league so no shame in drawing. As you say we're in a decent run which must be installing confidence the like of which has been rather sporadic the last four years. I hope they can build on this whatever happens at Crewe which is a damnably difficult game and could point the way to the second half of the season - struggle again or mid-table. That said it's only one game and we might even win it!
Either way the basis of a reasonably settled team is emerging now and we had 4000 there again today. Up the ever so slowly rebuilding U's

Frustrating - a mucky game we could have won, but Newport stuck to their task and got the point they wanted. If the roles had been reversed we'd probably been just as happy. Still, another game undefeated, another clean sheet - there are some positives.

Quite an exciting game for a 0-0 draw, I thought. We could easily have scored four or more. The finishing touch just wasn't there for anyone today. But the undefeated run continues, and five consecutive clean sheets. The team is definitely on an upward trajectory.

It was certainly more entertaining than the dross at Fleetwood, but the bar is now so low that we take positives from drawing a game we should have won. Never mind how many clean sheets, 4 wins in 19 is still very poor. It’s the perfect example of a Curate’s egg.
Three difficult games to come and then probably the most important transfer window in our history. Everything is in place for our longterm fortunes to improve, but if we sell good players and/or fail to spend the cash from Fevs/Mingi/Chilvers/Bradley then it’ll just be more of the last 18 years.
The players, manager and 4000+ supporters are doing their bit, we just need the main man to join the party, because there’s not likely to be a better chance.

Two points dropped, should have scored when on top, which was the majority of the first half. No clear cut chance though . Macey generally untroubled throughout. Will play worse and win, and better and lose, so swings and roundabouts. Strange seeing the side minus Read and Payne when substituted.

Danny – “The quality in the final third was missing”
I think I can help you there Danny, it’s not missing, it’s been sold to pay for the white elephant. Apparently, it’s called ‘great business for the club’ or at least great business for Peterbore, Stockport, Ross County even Solihull.
What's it going to be this January?

And a month away from new management. I completely agree that we now have much more solid foundations. We have a positive goal difference, unlike all the teams below us and a few above. Our defence is showing better understandings and our midfield is pressing hard, creating more turnovers. Our attack is also looking increasingly potent. The wins will come if we continue on this path.
Obviously I don't have a clue about what will happen in the January window. We might end up stronger, weaker or about the same. But I doubt that the future of the club will depend on it.

Here's a telling stat - only the top three have lost fewer games, only the bottom three have won fewer.
We're definitely moving in the right direction, but another striker to support Tovide and Taylor must be top of the January shopping list. Imperative if the right offer comes in for Tovide, because if it does he will be sold.

Excellent stat! Three really tough games before the end of the year, fortunately two of them at home. I think we'll have a better idea of where we're really at after those games.

Absolutely, spot on MM47. I'll take three points and thus 25 to start the new year
But there are tiny green shoots. And they will be tiny because the roll back which was tasked the Cowleys is a huge ask. Maybe, just maybe a corner is being turned.
The stats are actually without doubt worth noting. Thank you Wessex. Perseverance can pay off.
Up the tentative unified repair shop U's.
