They did that at the start, but then got a bit RMish later on in the 1st half. Roy Keane said at half time that he didn't like it when England "get a bit tippy tappy".His future son in law will have to explain to him that modern football is all about maximum possession and minimum chances created. Fortunately in the second half they went for it again, played well and created more chances. As far as I'm concerned, England are a lot better when they aren't trying to shoehorn Bellingham, Foden and Palmer into the same side. Tonight's side had a lot better balance. Sometimes you have to leave out Jimmy Greaves to win the world cup.

Ive been a critic of Pickford, but I agree with you he was good last night and a contender for man of the match in terms of a solid consistent performance throughout the match and a decent save or two thrown in

Im happy that England won, especially when so many people dropped out, a really good build up for the first goal, Bellingham was unlucky to not get credited with the goal and a superb finish from Curtis Jones for the 3rd. Perhaps there was an attitude of playing without fear from the players in the squad, they didn't have to please Lee Carsley as he will be gone for Tuchel, so the slate will be wiped clean from next week

It will be interesting to see what happens with a World Class manager in charge. For all the midfield and attacking talent we still do not have a stand out Centre Back and when Luke Shaw is injured, a Left Back. Even if we win the World Cup in 2026 there will still be people moaning about it. Probably because Tunchel didn’t sing the national anthem. He is German, why would he?

For once I found our England team watchable. I normally fall asleep when watching Englad play their slow, pedestrian (Saints like) football. Last night it was much better, it was slick, incisive, good movement. I normally struggle to name a player that has performed well but I thought they all did a good job last night. Nice to see us play with two proper wingers that were prepared to take their full backs on. Let's hope Tuchel can build on last night's performance when he eventually takes over.
England on 11:56 - Nov 15 with 908 views | dirk_doone | Yes, I agree. It was a very good performance against a good Greek side. You have to feel a bit sorry for Lee Carsley. If not for that experiment, trying to fit all of our best attacking players into the home game vs Greece, he'd be the permanent England manager now.

Not sure Carsley wanted the job permanently.

Pickford has played in two finals and one semi final and has been great in all tournaments and yet gets pelters from people in the media who are desperate for him to be replaced. There’s not an English goalie who comes close to him. Plus he’s kept Everton up for the past three seasons. I’ve no doubt that without him, they’d have gone.

I just love Pickfords attitude & enthusiasm. He's fully committed every time he plays. Don't understand why so many people knock him, he's by far the best we've got.

When he took the life of Virgil Van Dead a few years ago in that horrific murderous act that he should have gone to prison for, the writing was on the wall for large parts of the media and their cretinous followers.

Agreed ST - that’s exactly what I was thinking as I read your previous post and GRIM’s reply. The Liverpool lap-dogs within the media went into meltdown at the time and I half expected the Witchfinder General to rock up at Goodisom Park with a hanging party in tow. Pickford does for you now what Le Tiss did for us back in the day. Long may he stay at EFC & as England’s No.1

He was and he's the best of those 3 (with Foden and Palmer). My point was that only 1 of them should be on the pitch at any time. They are all no 10s and if they play together England get very one dimensional. If all 3 are available, pick Bellingham, have Palmer on the bench and leave Foden at home because he rarely delivers for England.
