I was also going to post Elvis Costello as my favourite artist. You're a man of taste, Izlington Hoop. The song you chose was number 14 on this list I did a few years ago.
So seeing as Elvis has already been done, here's another of my favourite groups. Just like Elvis Costello, the very distinctive vocal style won't be for everyone, but I've followed Tindersticks since the very first record.
