Rich clubs can ignore FFP 12:59 - Apr 26 with 1662 viewssaint901

Report in the BBC today that Newcastle are preparing to spend £150m in the close season.

FFP seems to be a mere inconvenience for Newcastle and other clubs owned by those with bottomless pockets.

We will see the richest clubs in the PL - City, Newcastle, Chelsea (I'm leaving Utd and Liverpool out for now as they are perhaps being sold to new owners) - perhaps Leicester, leaving the PL (or playing in a much reduced league of perhaps 12 clubs) whilst they focus on playing the richest teams in Europe and beyond in a season long "competition".

Clubs like ours will be also rans playing in a football merit league where the quality of football and not the size of the bank balance is important.

You mean as it used to be when clubs like ours, Ipswich, QPR, Blackburn (well maybe not, that was Jack Warner's toy as opposed to the Arabs), etc were genuinely competing for the league for a few seasons

Chelsea’s spending in the last few months means that all bets are off when it comes anyone getting done for FFP.

It's the same the whole world over,
It's the poor what gets the blame,
It's the rich what gets the pleasure,
Ain't it all a bloomin' shame?

Newcastle can spend big at the moment, due to many years of sitting around break even.....there have been many articles explaining this, due to Ashley's thrift policies and zero debt.

Chelsea however....
