Sports Republic out? 20:05 - Apr 2 with 1943 views | WestEndBoy | Seem to be getting a free ride from our placid fan base… have they got ANY major decision right yet? Sooner ankerson and his inflated ego f*ck off the better in my opinion and take Steele and semmens with him
Sports Republic out? on 20:11 - Apr 2 with 1901 views | Southamptonfan | Seconded. Their stupid, pathetic decisions, their stupid philosophy of buying young, unproven players have destroyed this club. A complete disaster. We need to get them out.

Sports Republic out? on 20:13 - Apr 2 with 1893 views | PatfromPoole | Keeping Hassenhutl in May when it was clear he was a busted flush. Not signing a striker; please don’t mention Mara, Nick. Sacking Hassenhutl too late. Recruiting Jones when Dyche was available. Not sacking Semmens; but then that was the point. He advised Gao to accept their bid as it kept him in a big-money gig. All major errors which are going to more than offset the good stuff they have done. Shame. [Post edited 2 Apr 2023 20:14]

Yes but we got to a semi final after Mara and Djenepo scored against Man City in the consolation cup. WE MARCH ON
| We thought that we had the answers,
It was the questions we had wrong. |

Gao got lucky as there were enough bad teams in the Prem to keep us up. This remains the case. However this is our weakest squad for a Prem season since 2005. I wonder if Nick still thinks we strengthened the squad this season……

The fact of the matter was that Hasenhuttl deserved the chance to start this season, he kept us safely in mid table when there was no money, no one is agueing that we should have signed a striker last summer, the real issue is that we failed to sign an experienced central defender last summer and for that matter every summer since 2017 after Van Dijk & Fonte left, I have been banging on about it till im blue in the face for 6 years now. You say elsewhere this is our weakest squad, the stats say differently in that we lost only 3 players last summer, Long & Redmond, who most on here have been demanding they be transferred for the last 4 years and Oriol Romeu who suddenly has taken on god like status. The 3 out on loan Bednarek aside were not regulars Yet we signed 14, some better than others, that just by numbers says we are stronger, but being stronger doesn't mean you are better, it is no use having the best boat in the water if you have a big hole in the bottom, it will sink and that is our problem. But the reality of Romeu leaving was that he was replaced by Romeo Lavia, do not tell me you would rather have Romeu than Romeo . You demand Dyche, but would Dyche have done anything here, not in ths short term, he doesn't have the defenders here that he needs, at Everton he has not done much better than Ruben Selles has here, but what he has is a defence that can keep a clean sheet and we don't. Do you think that Gao took much notice from Semmens ? you are adopting a scatter gun approach here, you are shooting at everyone in range on the basis that one of them is guilty and deserves it. Semmens kept the club's head above water in a difficult few years when Gao was unable to invest money, the club wasn't badly run, it just had no money due to a political situation beyond it's control, he wasn't an experienced football man, he was there to run the business side of things not the footballing side, he was left holding the baby so to speak. On the face of it Sports Republic looked a good fit for Southampton FC, they still look a good fit, they have spent money, the issue has been about signing the wrong players, that isn't Semmens fault. Somewhere along the line it is to do with what the managers and the director of football wants, our problem here is probably we haven't had a director of football for most of the season, Joe Shields came and went quickly and Jason Wilcox isn't leaving Man City till the summer. Shields was in charge of the summer recruitment, yet he failed to land a striker, was he out of his depth, we will perhaps never know, but lets blame Semmens. You have yet to mention the name of Matt Crocker, why did he not see the issue at the back and bring in experience. I am not arguing with you, I just think you are shooting at everyone and not getting to the core of the problem and that is we can't defend set pieces, if we had signed Ben Mee or the like then perhaps this season would be very different.

You forgot two decent players that have left us. Broja was a big loss. His miserly 6 prem goals might be manged by all our forwards this season in total. We also lost a reborn keeper in Forster. Last season pretty much to a man we wanted to keep him and let McCartney go. Its quite incredible they have spent over 100mil and made the team significantly worse.
