Queen Elizabeth II on 15:02 - Sep 8 with 5490 views | foreverhopefulDale | Yes it's bloody awful. Hopefully they will stick to one channel and not have it so that we miss other programs. At times like this they should open up BBC 3 and put all of the coverage on there as well as the BBC news channel. [Post edited 8 Sep 2022 15:03]

I honestly think she should abdicate. I don't agree with the monarchy, but she's done her service and deserves to be able to retire and be looked after. It's an old fashioned and ridiculous idea to believe she should die while in service. You now get Popes retiring while in service.

Queen Elizabeth II on 16:16 - Sep 8 with 5215 views | DaleiLama | Reading between the lines, she's had an on-going illness (presumably incurable) and looking at how frail she looks and the engagements she hasn't been able to fulfil, she's been deteriorating for some time. She's had a bloody awful time of it after losing the Duke and battling what appears to be a life-threatening illness (much like my own mum had to endure). Not to mention having Covid chucked at her. Regardless of your views on royalty, she's a remarkable and special woman, epitomised by that smile on what will probably the last photo of her, and my heart goes out to her and her family. Very sad.

Agree DaleiLama. Despite all the material advantages that come with the position, I doubt there's anyone else who has worked so hard for so long. RIP

Queen Elizabeth II on 18:39 - Sep 8 with 4896 views | EllDale | You have to distinguish between the monarchy as an institution and the late queen as a person I suppose. Even many people who don’t particularly like the former admired and respected the latter. RIP.

Queen Elizabeth II (n/t) on 19:35 - Sep 8 with 4631 views | Brierls | Bless. RIP Queen Elizabeth II. I'm not a royalist by any stretch, but it's clear HM was loved by a large chunk of the UK population, possibly even more so from afar. Her death is a loss to the nation. Probably not, my neighbour works at the etihad and she said that in the event of her death it was looking like the game would be called off. Didn't they scratch all sporting fixtures after 9/11?

No, we played that night (versus Fulham) and then again on the following Saturday.
| When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf? |

Oh dear thats twice in one thread. The country is officially in 12 days of mourning for its Head of State. Things will get postponed. Personally I would like Saturdays game to go ahead for selfish reasons, but I will respect the decisions made. Our game on the 20th will surely be postponed as that is the expected day of the funeral

The funeral is supposed to be ten days following the monarch passing away, so that would be Sunday 18th.

Anglican funerals can't be held on a Sunday, and since the monarch is head of that church it'd have to be following that, possibly Monday 19th with a "day of national mourning" granted

The EFL has announced Friday's fixtures - Burnley vs Norwich and Tranmere vs Stockport - have been postponed as a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth II. A decision on the weekend's games will be made on Friday morning, following discussion with the Department for Culture, Media & Sport. The EFL paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, highlighting that she presented captain Bobby Moore with the World Cup trophy when England beat Germany at Wembley in 1966
