Is it Palace for Eze? 10:48 - Aug 13 with 68043 viewsNorthantsHoop

Yet more paper talk about Palace discussing buying Eze this morning. If it is all true, they do seem to be showing the most firm interest. Reckon if they up their bid to around £15m to £16m cash plus add ons to £20m we may bite. Don't think it would be a bad move for him, likely to get game time and the step up in the Prem with a mid ranking club. If he improves there then possibility of a bigger club next. Got to get a decent % sell on clause in the deal.

Dunno if he should go to Selhurst Park, look how lazy they are with their offers. No negotiating skills, poor movement off the ball and a high percentage of wasted chances. Palace, too lazy for Eze.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

A season sitting on the bench with only league cup games won’t help his development much though. But what other teams would he flourish at?And who will take a chance at £20 million?

I think Palace would be a good fit but with the transfer domino effect it probably is reliant on Zaha moving on.

Not sure Ebere would be a direct replacement as he is a different kind of player. He would have to improve his diving for a start!

i don't think he's a chance at all.
If teams can't see what a player he is, they must be blind.

Bare bones.

This.

He's just posted near identical stats for the season which two years ago made Leicester pay Norwich £20m for James Maddison. Covid-19 or not, teams in the Premier League are still going to get a minimum of £120m this season.

I'm amazed that more mid ranking teams like Southampton and Everton aren't interested.

Most premier league clubs are especially tight with their money when it comes to giving any to us for our players. They seem to know that we can’t afford to turn them down.
Why wouldn’t all teams wait until the January window in order to see if they need him first, and of course for a lower fee.

Interesting where Palace might play Ebs, when I've watched them , they seem a collective bunch of spoilers, and hatchet men living off set pieces and Zaha diving.

Probably play him as a holding midfield player.

( Visions of watching Palace v Burnley) Aaargh!

Interestingly Matt Dickinson of the Times (who is a season ticket holder) commented recently that he was aware of a few premier league clubs who were unconvinced that Eze would cut it at the top level.

I have no doubt he could. I think there is a bit more time on the ball in the Premier League and we have seen Grealish flourish which I think is a reasonable basis for comparison

I'd like to see him at Leeds.
Fits their system. Top coach. Big club, on the up, but looking for hungry young players, and he'll start rather than be on the bench.

Seems logical. But:

Got it in one. Until and unless we can change that image the buy low sell high policy is not going to work.

but surely it's competition that pushes up the price. We need 2 or 3 other clubs vying for him not just Palace.

Not always, we laud Brentford for getting good money for their players but they rarely seem to have bidding wars for their players. Maybe we just need to hold firm and not be a soft touch then other clubs will stop trying to take the p*ss.

We're in a strong position for the first time in a long time. We're not desperate for cash, we have a player who we have good cover for so won't necessarily need a direct replacement which eases pressure on us to sell early, Eze is happy here and has 2 year left on his contract.

Yes, we should sell now to maximise the fee which will reduce in a year if he doesn't sign a new contract but the offers reportedly being made are what I'd expect a year down the line with 1 year left on his contract. We need to hold out for £20m+ otherwise it's not worth our time.

I think all clubs would have some doubts about players being able to step up a level. Conor Washington, anyone? Just gone to Charlton and back in L1.

Ebs is so comfortable on the ball, and so laid back, I doubt if he'd be phased by playing at PL level. Maddison (Norwich-Leicester) and Bowen (Hull - W Ham) stepped up in recent times, so why not Eze.

I'm a little surprised there's been no evident interest from outside the UK. IMHO he'd flourish at a Bundesliga club.

They’ll play Eze as a direct replacement for Zaha, out wide and wreck him.

The likes of Madison, Traore, Antonio get snapped up for big money as they’re a ready made fit for an existing team structure.

He’s a fantastic player but you wonder if most Premier League teams would struggle to accommodate him. To get the best out of Eze you build the side round him, can’t imagine many clubs taking the gamble of doing that having never played above Championship level.

I would expect Eze to go for around £12 million plus add-on's which may eventually rise to £16-£18 million.

He needs to go to a club that plays fast attacking football, neat and tidy where they have the ball more than chasing the ball. He needs to be a key player for them, ie, he gets the ball given to him 'to make things happen'.

Yes, he has been excellent and, yes, he has improved under MW and his Team but the Premiership is a different level.....just remind yourselves about that wonderful talent Lee Cook who went to Fulham and played a handful of matches for them

I hope he succeeds not only for the Club but also for the player himself.

I think there should be a transfer embargo for twelve months with players' contracts extended for the same period and additionally a financial support system put in place for clubs during this period.

Didn't Cook he get injured at the start of the seaon and ruled our for all nearly all of it? I think you're being harsh there!

How he does in the Premier League no-one knows, we will just have to see - I think it will bery much depend on the team he joins and how they play him.

I probably am there Ash....I never thought he was as good as many on this mb thought. Just trying to justify myself I suppose because I said he wouldn't do anything in the top division or play for England.

I think I remember Lee getting injured in a pre season game for Fulham against us at LR.

Never played a minute for Fulham, in two years, and was unable to get back to his previous level, with other clubs including his second spell with us.

West Ham in the news for defaulting on debts again. Have already renewed loans against forthcoming broadcast revenue.

At minimum you would think they should be waiting on freeing up cash through sales before increasing any bids to us.

Whole thing's built on sand there but I guess it hasn't stopped them over the years - so far.
