Some good calls on players, I think Daryl Murphy could do a decent job for us, but again it’s down to wages. I expect us to be very cautious and take our time in signing anyone, and when we do they won’t be on silly money. Although I hope I am wrong, with the amount of bellends breaking all social distancing rules, a second spike is inevitable, and everything could get locked down again. I can’t see us signing anyone until we know the restart date and also with a clause in the contract where if football ceases or furlough happens they accept furlough wages only, with contracts extended automatically by the the term of the furlough/football ceasing. I can see clubs getting in a whole load of trouble signing players, only for things to go pear shaped. Hopefully our historical lack of funds and perceived ambition will continue for a while.

I think we will sign close to if not our quota of loan players at least till January and then see how the land lies.

Every chance James, but again I would expect a clause in the contract to protect against costs in the event of football stopping!

Perhaps a basic based on the maximum furlough amount and then 'appearance' bonuses.

From Premier League, Super Cup, World Club champion to League 1? Think that may be a bit optimistic!

He didn’t even play a game. They signed him during a spectacular keeper crisis and he was available, competent, English & cheap. We were good enough for him to spend time with the year before, so I don’t see why a Lancashire lad wouldn’t want a 2 year contract finishing his career as a number 1 in League One?

All depends whether Liverpool offer him another deal. It looks like he plays a big part in their squad in training and maybe it could be a route into coaching which at this stage of his career could be a bigger pull than playing games. As you say he’s cheap for them to have a role that may be beneficial. And cheap at that level could be 5-10k a week...

He is on the released list though, if he was going to stay around as a coach you’d have thought they’d made the announcement at the same time. Would love to get him in the sticks for 2 years.

Didn’t realise he’d been released. Be interesting to see what wages he’d want. One issue would be that when he was here we were playing a more ‘back to basics’ type of football, can he play within the possession game BBM wants?

If he was good enough for Klopp, a proponent of the footballing-keeper system, to utilise possibly at first team level if needed, i suspect he'd be good enough from that point of view for Dale He'd be a great signing, but as others have said, he'd need to take a significant wage cut and we already have a keeper plus a graduate from our academy on our books

Sadlier is the exact sort of player I think our squad has missed in the last three seasons, perhaps even longer. Formerly of Cork City and Republic of Ireland U21s too. Unfortunately, I suspect he's more likely to go to a top-end L1/lower-end Championship club.
