Contracts Extended on 19:00 - Feb 19 with 2027 views | Russian__Bot | Translation neither will be here next season. Leaving for fraction of their worth. There’s the logic of FFP for you?! Football is dead and FFP is killing it. If owners were to gift money to clubs. No strings attached loans that should be fine. Pay BOS, Eze and Manning enough time stay for nucleus of next years team and then we would at worse make a profit and get what they are worth Man City- no debt- profits growing- FFP fine and Champs league ban United- £181m of debt -55% up on year before - no fine Disgrace - sky, talk sport and newspaper alleged journos don’t cover it for fear of offending the big boys [Post edited 19 Feb 2020 19:03]

Pinner, This is not good news by any stretch of the imagination and could have been concluded behind closed doors. There is no need to announce that the Club has called in its fall back position. Fans should feel annoyed that the club believes this can be sold to a bunch of mugs as a success story. It isn’t. [Post edited 19 Feb 2020 19:38]

Indeed “it is what it is”. It is not a success. How the club can believe that this merits packaging up and feeding to the gullible masses as such is an embarrassment. Get on with your business behind closed doors and let us know when there is something to be celebrated. Incompetent. ...I’m checking off out of this thread as I think my ‘positive posts credit’ in favour of the Directors is taking a nose dive. I’ll be in the corner having my breakdown in private.

Contracts Extended on 17:29 - Feb 19 by Northernr | I would absolutely fcking love to see your very understanding reaction if we turn down offers for Manning and BOS this summer to "go for the top six", don't go up, and then lose two of our three best assets for free the following year. I bet you'd be very c'est la vie about that. |
Put yourself in BOS and Manning’s boots. BOS knows PL are sniffing round him, Manning could probably get a place at clubs trying to get into the PL. They’ve been here long enough to see that 16th place has been the boards ‘go to’ position. At best the two players go along with another year on their contracts, on the basis that we make a challenge to get promotion next season and if the board aren’t willing to push on they can then be sold on during the season or walk for free at the end of 20/21. As you keep banging on about FFP, fairly, then you should also be able to see that if the club can’t meet their likely wage demands then the best we can ask these players is to give it one more season. The two players are in the driving seat, not the club, hence why I said it’s the best we can hope for. Give me one good reason why these two should sign longer contracts? Exactly, they’re ain’t one. So we will now see what the board are made of. A progressive board will say we will fill the weaker parts of the team with better players next season so these type of players can get to the PL but with us. For some reason when I say this sort of stuff some people think I expect us to break the bank. I don’t. Apart from CF we can remedy most of our weaknesses at affordable money. Whether the board actually want to, we will have a better idea by the end of August.

The club has 2 options, 1) invoke the one year extension on their current contract or 2) let them go at the end of season. Given that we're never going to let them go at the end of the season then it has the be option 1). The club would love them both to sign new contracts but neither player is willing sign one. Not saying I blame either player but how can this possibly be excellent news?

We don’t know they’re not willing to sign new contracts though. All we know is that the club has extended their current deal, everything else is conjecture.

Reading the comments before looking at the link I thought we'd dragged the players down to the stadium to pose with shirts and signing a contract. No, just a short statement on the club's website informing us we'd taken the option. Not exactly the spin and PR exercise that it was proclaimed to be. Is it possible that triggering the extension strengthens our hand in negotiations? Why should any player want to stay at QPR instead of going to the premier League, I don't know perhaps they can ask Alex Smithies and Luke Freeman if the extra cash is worth sitting on the bench.

Contracts Extended on 22:18 - Feb 19 with 1496 views | slmrstid | In fairness here the club I think is in a damned if you do damned if you don't type scenario. Say nothing, and people on the internet will fret these players are out of contract in the summer and bombard the club on Facebook/Twitter to "DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT" Announce what they've done to be transparent, and the thread goes in this direction. From the players perspectives, they're both coming into their prime years, they've had a great introduction to higher level first team football at QPR, they've both been linked with Premiership moves, and in all likelihood its not looking like we'll be there anytime soon, so its hardly surprising they will be keeping their options open. If they don't sign longer deals, then this gives us good leverage to get a good fee for them in the summer, and we can wave goodbye with thanks and hopefully welcome in some new QPR Heroes to Be. As it were. I mean in an ideal world we will now embark upon a Leicester City type journey and be Champions of England within 3/4 years with Manning/BOS/Eze, hell even Lee Wallace, with us marauding across the pitch, but its probably not very likely sadly.

No it's phucking moaning. It's what a lot our fans, who have never run a car boot sale yet claim they know how a football club should be run, always do.How dare the club not get them to sign 20 year contracts eh ??

Contracts Extended on 17:29 - Feb 19 by Northernr | Same. Announcing something we already knew doesn't exactly suggest proper contract extensions are imminent does it? |
If the last month of social media has told us anything it's that the club can hardly count on things already being known. If it's done make it clear, for everyone in the back row. If I had to speculate then announcing the club's intent to extend puts the ball unambiguously in the players court, again for the fans to see.
Contracts Extended on 00:59 - Feb 20 with 1353 views | Jigsore | hopefully Manning and BOS consider that they haven't even been guaranteed starters for us for very long (with Manning just coming back in after a reasonable spell out), they're both very exciting players who need a club like us who won't just toss them aside when their form dips. we play some of the most attacking football in the entire league, maybe the entire Football League. you are never going to look so good anywhere else bar maybe West Brom, and certainly not in a bottom half PL team managed by someone like David Moyes. you simply won't get that freedom in 95% of teams. unlike Wells who's 29 and probably hitting his peak, if he hasn't already, in terms of ability and reputation and needs that big contract these two are still pretty young and improving, hopefully they consider that and just want to negotiate for bigger wages until they surely eventually move on. i'm not panicking yet.

"Breaking the bank" and "affordable" are relative to what is allowed under FFP. You can waffle about "ambition" and "progressive" and what the board is willing and "actually want" to do, all of it is defined by FFP. If they break FFP and we don't go up immediately the club is fcked. Yet somehow though it's seen as incompetent if they don't punt the club's future on a lottery ticket. I don't know how many more times and how many more sock puppets are needed to explain this. Of course, you're welcome to enlighten us on what your own personal 100% realistic affordable recruitment masterplan might be exactly.
