Odds For Next Manager... on 11:40 - Mar 4 with 11537 views | Ninco | There's quite a few on there from the London area. Can't see someone moving up from London for what could potentially be a league 2 job, and I doubt the club will again offer a long contract in view of the problems it caused, so probably not worth their while.

I was quite impressed with Flowers during the FA Cup game. No idea about him otherwise, but I can definitely see us going down that route (Vermiglio and maybe Challinor too). Hurst should be top of our list though, despite some creeping reservations.

Last time he was asked Jamie didn’t want to go into full time football. I’m thinking of starting a thread over it.

Bet they haven’t got a 3 year pay off - they’ll be a termination clause in the contract.

People keep saying this, but if that was the case, what would be the point in signing a 5 year deal if he's not entitled to 5 years worth of wages? Here's a 5 year deal that means you have to stay for 5 years, but if we change our minds you only get 12 months worth of compensation. Doesn't make sense to me and I couldn't see anyone signing up to that.

I'd be amazed if whoever drew up the contract didn't insert clauses regarding performances/league position and the like, if Hill had another job lined up having knowledge of what was coming that would also affect the comp paid out. the fact Beech has also gone makes me suspect the latter.....In my opinion for what it's worth he won't have got the full 3 years as a pay off....

I can’t see a business offering a 5 year deal without it.

Didnt pardew dign a stupid 9yr contract at newcastle not so long ago!!! We all know he was Asleys mate etc but i bet Pardew got the remainder of what was left of that season...... There is nothing wrong with long term contracts aslong as it as a 12mth termination clause.... [Post edited 4 Mar 2019 12:44]

Given his record I'd be quite positive if we got him. However it would probably mean that Stockport escape the pub league and that'd upset me a bit. Maybe we should go in for Gannon...

Surely the point of a 5 year deal was to stop other clubs from poaching him as they would have to pay the 5 year's worth of compensation. According to ACAS, the absolute maximum period of notice you can put in any employment contract is 12 weeks, so unless football contracts work differently, we would only have to pay him for 12 weeks or whatever was agreed in his contract.

I'm not sure what Pardew got (if anything), but his wasn't offcially terminated by Newcastle as Pardew resigned to take the Crystal Palace job.

FIxed term contracts can be terminated in the same way open ended ones can, with the required notice period . I’ve known people on 12 month contracts being finished after a few weeks. We will probably never know the financial implications of Hill’s sacking but I would wager he isn’t getting paid up to the end of his contract [Post edited 4 Mar 2019 13:18]
