Put up, or shut up... 09:19 - Sep 2 with 5654 viewsjackrmee

I reckon it's time to stop going on about the board and start breeding positive thoughts and emotions round the place...

OK, so the board have fckd us and the club over, but there's nothing more they can do now until January, so can't we just forget about it until then, and start supporting the team and backing the players we have now?
I don't see how moaning can help at all. And I don't see how anything more than moaning can help either now the window is shut.

Unless there is some sort of plan to boycott or how to hurt the board AND a plan to actually follow through with it, then what is the point in talking about it, as that just breeds negativity and that will spread through the club.

I hope the players don't look at these forums, because if I was a player reading these, I'd be mostly disappointed and it would be hard for it to not impact on my fight for the club and for us, the people who seem so negative.

Unless someone has a good idea in order to really make the board wake up to their actions, and have an idea how to get all the fans involved, surely it's time to shut up and enjoy the season? At least until they start fiddling and lying again in January.

The Trust, once again, needs careful attention. They're not interested in the good of the Football club, they're only interested in their petty revenge.

We should be all over them like a rash. They've facked up before and they'll do it again.

Hypothetically, if the owners did what the Oystons have done to Blackpool (taken every penny of profit they can out of the club, while not giving a toss about the supporters or what league they're in), would you and the other board loyalists change your tune then?

Wouldn’t we have to make a profit first?

Although the question could and should be posed the other way though, if they haven’t then would you change yours? Do we have any evidence that they have? If not then surely it is only fair to assume they haven’t?

I'm a little surprised you seem to know what hypothetically means, you aching simpleton. Why don't you go back to telling us about how real fans never slag off our own players?

And E20, yes if this season turns out to be all about balancing the books, correcting the errors of the past, then I will be very happy to congratulate the owners on a job well done. The fact they're still employing (on a whacking great wage) the individual most responsible for the penurious situation we're in doesn't fill me with hope that's going to happen though.

My point is, how is moaning on a forum helping matters?

The window is shut, so why still moan about non signings? That is the past...it doesn't even exist any more.

If you have some sort of plan that the board may actually take note of then lets do it. Otherwise, moaning on here is just bringing everyone down and will slowly filter through the club. Not productive.

What's the alternative?

Just roll over and watch what was once a club more than holding its own in the Premier League being eroded into a mess both on and off the field?

It's good for fans to air their views. We do it because we care. It's obvious that not everyone will agree but healthy debate should be encouraged, not seen as moaning.

Do you really think the Board would take note of any views or ideas put forward on this site?

It’s possible to be four square behind Potter and the team but still be annoyed/angry/confused about how the club is and has been run at a corporate level since the sale to Kaplan and Levien. They’re not contradictory positions, despite what some would have you believe.

Only way to get rid of this board is to make noises or they will take every last grand out of the club. Unreal how anyone can make a case for the American owners. I hope they make no more statements. It sad they can influence people while shareholders all 27 are quids in. I am travelling back from millwall and most swans fans have had enough statements we want our club back. Potter and the communication with board changes every week the way he is treated is shocking.

Rebalancing/cost cutting or whatever you want to call it needs to happen, that can’t be disputed.
I don’t have access to the figures and can only work on what’s in the public domain, but significant savings need to be made, the extent and timescale of those cuts is something through that needs to be questioned as is the overall wage bill at the club. I always knew that there would be significant departures, but I am surprised that the club hasn’t strengthened the playing squad with a few loan players. The Trust is a 21% owner of Swansea City and is entitled to know exactly what is going on.

In terms of Huw Jenkins, he has over the majority of his tenure done a really good job at Swansea City,, but to my mind over the last few years he has lost his mojo and some of his transfer business over the last few seasons has been poor and is in my opinion one of the reasons the club is where it is now. There needs to be perspective on both sides, acknowledgment of his successes and failures. HJ is a bloke not a god and he most certainly is not above reproach and questioning.

I wonder what the views of the former employees, sub contractors and shareholders of Carillon feel about their ex chairman and board of Directors? For a while they were also able to bask in success - until the company came crashing down around them.

I don’t think it matters what a firm of 20 years ago thinks of him does it? Unless they dont think he is the most successful chairman in the history of Swansea City then they would be wrong and need to give their heads a wobble. He has been at the helm for nearly 2 decades now, you seem to be suggesting he has rode his luck almost?

I absolutely agree however that there is a need for balance, however that balance only seems to be coming from one side. I am more than happy to say where I feel mistakes have been made, but acknowledge mistakes do get made also.

So - we come down to the crunch again:-

Take a look at the Americans other sporting clubs. Who do you think they will employ to replace Jenkins if it came to it? Do you think the next person to be brought in as chairman will make any mistakes? Do you think he/she will have a better track record of success?

Answer those three questions honestly.

We're doing the cost cutting part yes. You have no way of knowing if the owners will loosen the purse strings once the books are balanced.

Also the man who is responsible for the lack of money in the club's accounts and us having to sell players for less than they're worth and even loan out others just to save the wages for a season.

He did a great job for many years and I was the first to say so. But his performance for the last few years has been terrible. In most jobs, if you perform at a consistently poor level, you will find yourself in trouble, no matter how you did in the past.

Not a grudge, just a fair look at the situation from my point of view as a fan. If you're looking for an agenda, you'll need to look at others.

Considering we smashed our transfer record under break even circumstances 12 months ago I think it is a fair assumption.

The man responsible for the lack of money? How? He created that money. Gylfi, Llorente, Mawson, Fabianski et al didn’t sign themselves. Since we got to the Premier League and to present day we have made a transfer profit. That is remarkable. To say he is the reason we have no money is ludicrous and disingenuous.

He did do a great job yes and continues to do so. Look at the players we have, look at the manager we have, look at where we are in the league and look at where we have spent the last decade. All on an even keel, sensational. A lot of our fans don’t know they are born.

Again I ask. Look at the Americans other sports clubs. Who is likely to replace him? What are the chances of having a better track record?

There is/are only one/two ‘messes’ on here and they are The Res (aka T2C).

Your analogy of the manner in which the Sellouts sold out to the Yanks being akin to ‘winning the lottery’ is seriously flawed Chrissy old boy.

Being fortunate enough to win the lottery simply entails choosing six numbers and if those six numbers come up then Hey Presto ! ( Hola 🤥😉 !) etc a life changing moment just like that. A very SIMPLE and STRAIGHTFORWARD transaction with no ambiguity whatsoever.

Conversely, professing to be a ‘diehard Swans fan’ (untrue however as I sat next to HJ’s very amiable Dad Gordon for many years in the Double Decker and HJ was conspicuous by his absence) who helped ‘save’ the Club from Petty back in the day then subsequently went on to enjoy returns of multiple times his original investment including very generous dividends whilst ‘living the dream’ of being a part owner of THE Football Club he ‘allegedly’ loved but then quite deviously and blatantly excluded the Supporters Trust, the very body and 21% Shareholder who, as a diehard fan, you know are there to support the Club’s best interests, lying about Shareholders Agreements, declining the opportunity to gift Mel Nurse’s shares to the Trust to take their Shareholding to 25%, lying about fictitious minutes at Board Meetings etc etc etc then quite clearly there is nothing WHATSOEVER to compare simply winning the Lottery to what Jenkins et al contrived under ‘cloak and dagger’.

Simply panicked after the previous season’s flirtation with relegation and sold out to the highest bidder with no thought, care, responsibility, due diligence, conscience, indeed anything whatsoever as to the consequences of their actions ......quite simply a lining of their own pockets.

JTAK my arse....I’ve STILL NOT watched it to this day either as it was always going to be a glossy selling tool to the Global/American (Delaware/Hedge Fund ?) marketplace ??

We will never know I guess whether the Chinese takeover bid which Martin Morgan allegedly preferred given it’s proposed investment into tourism in Swansea Bay etc as well as the Swans was seriously considered......but my overriding suspicion is that getting ‘top buck’ was the ONLY THING the Sellouts were interested in ??

You Greedy B@stards Get Out Of OUR Club.

Made a transfer profit? i'd like to see that substantiated.

And of course it can't be because debts wouldn't have risen to the extent they have.

More generally Jenkins consistently sold the saleable players and kept the duds, initially by choice so as not to take the accounting hit as in the case of Baston and more recently cos he couldn't offload players like Bony and Ayew.

The results of this remarkable policy speak for themselves.

He also spent the money he created. Signing Bony and Ayew back, handing out extended contracts to players like Dyer and Routledge, signing players to huge contracts without including relegation clauses.

The person at the top of the club who makes the decisions is always going to carry the can. He squandered the money made from the likes of Gylfi and Llorente. Surprised you're touting Mawson, as he could have been sold for a lot more money were we not so firmly in the sh*t financially.

It's easy to make a person look good when you only talk about their positives. I am admitting that he did a great job for many years. You can't say anything negative about him, which is why so many think you're a shill for the owners. Or just a WUM.

Why would I look at the Americans other sports clubs for who would replace him? If the Americans have an ounce of sense (and I presume they do), they'd talk to people with knowledge of British and European football to source a replacement.

Of course, that’s how a football club works. Especially one of our size. You regenerate money through transfers which is why it is so hard for a club of small stature to stay at the top level due to the difficulty of the task. The better you are at it, the longer you will stay there - we stayed there almost a decade, one of the rare examples of this sort of achievement for our sort of club.

I couldn’t give two hoots what people on here think of me, I am simply saying it how it is. The majority of voting fans also wanted to give up their rights to legal action in return for £5m remember.

I have asked you a direct question. Do you think the Americans sourced advice from experts in European football when they appointed Bob Bradley? Do you think they sourced that same advice when they appointed their other guys at their other clubs?

I will ask again:- who do you think will replace him? Do you think he will have a better track record?
