Delaney on 14:25 - Jun 15 with 9195 views | Brierls | They'll be dissapointed if they're expecting to sign a goalkeeper. As well as Delaney did, I think he's still a way from establishing himself at League One standard, let alone higher up. The potential is there though. If we compare Delaney to Dawson, who made the step up, I think Dawson was a far more accomplished centre half when he moved. Even then he spent time furthering his "football education" at West Brom before breaking into the first team. I'm hoping Delaney kicks on for us this season.

This has all come about due to people using the word 'stopper' to mean defender. A 'stopper' is a goalkeeper.

Afraid not 'Stopper' is a term i've been familiar with since Colin Parry was regularly called that in our 60s promotion team. He was a CB, alongside Joe Ashworth Doesn't alter the fact it's a rubbish piece of reporting

Delaney on 15:57 - Jun 15 with 8899 views | SaxonDale | Assume it is just agent talk, but it's not the first time he's been linked elsewhere. As others have said I certainly think he's one for the future but needs another 12 months at League 1 level. He's only 21 and given the amount of money being thrown around the Prem there's little gamble in waiting 12 months to see how he progresses as any transfer increase in that period will be pennies for them.
Delaney on 16:23 - Jun 15 with 8816 views | electricblue | If its true and Delaney does sign for another club then Dale should be getting McGahey to sign.. I guess its palace after Delaney.. [Post edited 15 Jun 2018 16:26]

Delaney on 16:50 - Jun 15 with 8718 views | EllDale | Being fair, if Delaney does go to a Premiership side he can expect to spend a lot of time playing in their sanitised under 21 or under 23 competition. Hilly seems to have a knack of persuading players to stay with us to gain experience. On the other hand, if Delaney's head is turned, we have a tradition of not standing in a player's way if he wants to go.
Delaney on 16:52 - Jun 15 with 8704 views | boromat | Got to be Agent talk no way anyone's in for him yet. He's completely unproven only played a handful of LG1 games in a three as well. Yes I can see him being sold in a year or two if he progresses but it'd be some risk for someone to buy him now for the prem. It'd probably ruin him he'd be sold and not play.

I don't think first team experience counts for much when PL clubs are looking at L1/L2 players to be honest. Look at the players Bury have sold to bigger clubs in the last few years - Ferry, Bedeau, Miller, Foulds, Obi, Ruddy etc. only had a handful of appearances between them.

My point of comparison with Dawson is that Delaney might also become a defender who chips in with 8-10 goals a season, especially from corners. He scored a few goals at Cork and a couple for Dale. Hendo can't be expected to score all the goals that'll be needed!

Pat McCourt was rumoured to be on his way to Man City and we turned down 3 million. Can’t remember where that came from but we would have took 10% of that back then

Man City were interested in McCourt while Paul Simpson was manager. There is no way that £3 million was ever discussed, however.
