What's your favourite stand up? I'm looking for any recommendations to watch on tinterweb whilst exceedingly high. Bill Hicks, Jim Jefferies, Marc Maron is my normal preference but much like music this shit is always better when recommended.
Come on you R's!!

Louis CK is a genius; I always love it if anyone tells me they haven`t heard of him. He is so prolific and is never less than incredibly funny and somehow wise at the same time. His sitcom Louie is also extraordinary- often very dark and profound as well as funny. My favourite British comic is a fellow hoop, Bill Bailey.

Hicks was brilliant. Try Emo Philips from Stateside UK - Kay was good, not any more. Bailey brilliant musically, but otherwise too clever for me. Sean Lock(lockipedia, not Purple Van Man). Mark Watson
Trying to think of others but pissed on 3 awY points !

Just watched this vid on the strength of your thread. Good piece on Gun control. I think he might of nicked that or at least be guided by Jon Oliver's 3 parter on The Daily Show. Oscar Pistorius bit had me crying.. 1.00.29
There is so much variety in styles and delivery it's difficult to know if you will like what I like...
I prefer the story telling to one liners for example. My favourites in the main stream include:
Dave Gorman - takes the piss out of stuff on the Internet using PowerPoint Dara O'Brien - a lot of irovised stuff with the audience whilst story telling Ed Byrne - another Irish comedian
But if you go to the comedy store or Jongleurs or even your local comedy's by our get a variety of stuff and some less well known but just as good comedians
Not seen him for ages but he's gigging in Ealing next Friday
Nobody can touch Richard Pryor. Dave Chappelle is seriously funny and the best short sketch was Bernie Mac's first Def Jam in New York.... 'You don't understand, I ain't scared of you motherfckas' .

I like most mentioned on here and would add Stewart Lee, Dylan Moran and most surprisingly Simon Amstell who I had no time for as a presenter but caught this show by chance and really enjoyed it. I quite like the whole spiritual/emotional/shared humanity self reflection thing, not for everyone.

Fave comedian right now is Stewart Lee (saw him last year, seeing him this year) but I do miss Patrice O'Neal. This routine is amazing.
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Billy Connolly was brilliant back in his prime,as was Micky Flanaghan. One that I can’t stand though is the woman with cerebral palsy.I think most people would boo her off stage if it wasn’t for her disability.

Yeah she's a struggle. Half of comedy is timing and, of course because of her condition, she's not got that. Not sure she's really got any good jokes either though.
If she was mad funny, I'd be happy to try to get through her delivery but she's not unfortunately. Still, fair play to her for getting a decent career going.

The late great Sean lock. Seen him on numerous occasions. First time at St Albans arena about 10 years ago and the following week seen Jason Manford. It was like night and day. Jim Eoin is a close second . Certified nut job.

Last comic we saw was Dave Gorman doing his PowerPoint tour and he was great.
We watched a couple of bits on Netflix recently and found them great:-
- Greg Davies "You Magnificent Beast". I like him on Taskmaster and from The Inbetweeners back in the day too but his stand up was cracking. - Ari Eldjarn - Icelandic comic. The whole show largely revolved around being Icelandic so I'm not sure how versatile other shows of his might be, but the one on Netflix is very funny.
