Need some help - London eating places 15:51 - Jul 7 with 5510 viewsYorkRanger

Wife's birthday so down for the weekend and seeing a show Staurday night.

Most restaurants I use in London are work related, city based and quite formal.

Any suggestions for something Latin/Tapas for Saturday Tea time, lively, cocktails, music perhaps and in and out in 90 minutes before 7.15.

West end probably preferable.

Thanks

My favourite tapas places are Dehesa on Ganton Street and Brindisa on Broadwick Street, both excellent and both in Soho so handy for the show afterwards.

Look no further than Ember Yard on Berwick St, W1. Tapas portions of not just spanish food but great meat and fish dishes in a very lovely, livley nformal place. Prices v reasonable too. It's so good it needs booking though even for pre-theatre. Trust me on this, you won't regret.

Enjoy that asking for tapas recommendation the first two suggestions were hot dogs and steak.

Navarros on Charlotte Street. Terrific authentic spanish

Finos - bit more high end but absolute bosh food

Salt Yard - the absolute nuts. When I get to choose where a media owner takes us to lunch, there is only one

Barrica - for when Salt Yard is fully booked.

Also London Cocktail Club is right by all of these

Pix Bar - pintxo bar (small tapas on sticks)

if you want Mexican, try Metizo near Euston/Warren Street. there aren't many decent mexican restaurants in London, so this is one of the best.

For a chain, there is Wahacca... Mexican tapas. there are several across the city, including Covent Garden. Its alright, but not as good as Matizo IMO...

SushiSamba

If the weather is good then pure pure class but proper money.
It's Liverpool Street so outside your zone

Just looked up that Ember Yard and I'm liking what I'm seeing. On my "to try" list

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Totally agree - go ballistic and eat till you drop (and quaff a few too) - you will remember this like I do for the next 10 years as such a great experience.

I just find there are much better options for BBQ - Pitt Cue Co., Dukes etc

Since we're now naming non tapas places, Riding House Cafe and Little Social are two of my favourite restaurants. The latter so good I proposed to my missus in there

Taking the Missus for a B'day Tapas off the back of this thread.

Am I right in saying that Salt Yard and Ember Yard are the same company??? Menu looks limited or am I reading the web menu wrong?

Navarros seems like the pick for me!!! Plenty to choose from and reasonable by the looks of it!

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Yep, Ember Yard, Salt Yard, Opera Tavern and Dehesa are all part of the same group.
