A few on here talk of their support for other teams in football and other sports, so from an idea shamelessly nicked over on a Hill-loving forum.... Rules: you don't have to support a team properly, just want them to do well. Add more if you want, but at least we'll finally establish who else supports someone as much as Chaff loves United.

Favourite English football teams apart from Dale: Manchester United

Foreign football teams: Real Madrid (or David Beckham's Miami team when it gets going)

Cricket teams: Milnrow, Lancashire and England

Rugby: I used to watch Oldham Bears in the Super League but now I hate Rugby.

American Football: Miami Dolphins for no other reason than Ace Ventura, or the Dillon Panthers from Friday Night Lights :-p

Basketball: I used to play basketball in my school days as unbelievable as that may sound and used to watch NBA with my mate and we both had LA Lakers jerseys.

Baseball: Never really followed baseball so I'm changing it to Ice Hockey and selecting the Chicago Blackhawks. They were boss on NHL94 for the MegaDrive.

Boxer: The greatest boxer I've ever watched was Mike Tyson. The guy was an animal and I genuinely thought he may actually kill someone. Current boxer though I'd choose Floyd Mayweather.

Jockey: Barry Gerraghty tends to win me more dollar than anyone else so I'll go with him.

Wrestler (!): All time - Bret Hart, followed by Chris Jericho. Current (ish) is CM Punk without a doubt or even more current, Bray Wyatt or Wade Barrett

Rochdale AFC First team, Reserves, Ladies, U12's, U11's, U10's and so on.

England at everything except rugby where I really don't give a shit.

USA sport is in the same category as USA comedy, hardly worth a comment.

What's curious about this thread amongst supporters of a small, lowly ranked Northern football club is the complete absence of any mention of the small, lowly ranked Northern rugby league club from the same town.

You'd think our dna would make us want Rochdale teams to do well.

I think they're called Hornets. Or it might be Rochdale Hornets. Or Castleton Gabriels. Or Mayfield. I don't even know when their season starts, nor am I bothered.

My mention of Hornets up until the early 90s was a sincere one. Used to go most weeks when they were doing really well about a year or so after moving to Spotland. In fact what put me off was when they reached the Super League, or whatever it was back then, and they clearly thought they'd made it. Their crowds were crazy for a while, bigger than Dale's and about 8-9000 when they played Oldham. Rugby was starting to get more exposure nationally and I got bored of it, the regime at Hornets gave no indication that they'd be a club worth supporting if their success continued. Which of course it didn't, and when they became rubbish again it looks like many like me weren't ever going to go back.

It is amazing that as sports fans, a huge percentage of us have no interest in what is probably the country's 3rd sport behind football and cricket.

I'm against all forms of rugby, I even change channels should it ever invade anything I'm watching or listening to.

There's one lad who watches Dale who always wears a Hornets coat. Has he never heard the phrase "as welcome as a pork pie in a mosque"?
