JUNIOR HOILETT YOU REMIND ME OF ANDY IMPY 14:37 - May 15 with 4573 viewsmorgantwin

YOU HAVE REALLY DEVELOPED LATELY WITH OUT THE BULLY BOYS GIVING YOU A HARD TIME

and now we have two of the finest wingers in the country in you and matty so our little club is really developing

sometimes only love can develop a player if you give a player a load of abuse he basically will never perform because he starts to hate the club
i think a lot of hoilets problems have been that hes been used in so many diferant roles hes so multi tallented he triesw to multi task too much
if he keeps on playing this role i dont think any body will shift him
SO GOOD BOY YOUNGMAN KEEP IT GOING

Waited a bloody long time to see it, but on Friday and Monday he put in two great performances playing for the team, playing to his strengths and yielding an invaluable end product at last. Delighted with and for him.

It wasn't going right for him 1st half , but he kept going and got his reward.
Thought he was unlucky with that turn & shot as well.

He needs to have more than half a dozen decent games for us before he can reasonably be compared to Andy Impey.
One of Impey's strengths was his team ethic. He worked damn hard on the pitch and used to pop up all over the place, including covering the full back. In fact I'd say that him and Bardsley were the 2nd best overlapping full back / winger combo I've ever seen for QPR (the best would be Sinton and Wilson on the other side).
Impey's best trick was to run to the byline and then cross it. Hoilett too often runs it out for a goal kick. Hoilett probably just shades it as the better finisher (when he's not aiming at the Upper Loft!) but apart from that Impey's better in every department.

I agree he's no Andy Impey yet, yet funnily enough I think he has as much potential. But how on earth has he made it this far in his career with a worse first touch than Hannibal Lechter? They should be banging balls at hime left right and centre on the training ground 24/7 to see if he can trap the bloody thing. IF he could control a ball first time he'd be twice the player IMO.

Think he could be a real staple for our team over the next few years. Young enough and talented enough to play well in both leagues.

Having the choice of Hoilet, Phillips, Traore and Patrasso is really good, and one area which does not need much strengthening over the summer or maybe 1 more at most to deal with the hamstrings, but they would have to be young!

Thought he was very good against Wigan at home and away, and the poor bloke was given the job of driving into the corner flag at the end of the game. That was never going to work considering he is about 8 stone.

If he gets a good pre season and gets really fit, i think we could see some of that Blackburn talent again.

I agree - I find it bloody frustrating that he seems to have no ability to cross the ball. Everytime he got down the wing he just ran it out of play. At least play for a corner and hoof it against the nearest defender.

Absolutely nowhere near Impey in terms of ability, work ethic and creation of goals.

Its uncanny how differently people see things!
I thought he was no better than average in the away game and would have been a poor 2nd leg performance but for winning the penalty.
The amount of times he lost the ball as he struggled to control it was staggering, also he nearly gave them a goal by dallying on the edge of their box then losing the ball.
Where i was sitting,he more than any other player had supporters pulling their hair out.

This. It's almost like SWP where they set the bar so low for themselves anythjng average is seen differently.

Hope he knuckles down and becomes a player like sinton

Junior Hoilett is nowhere near Andy Impey's level. Hoilett can't control the ball, rarely goes past a player, even more rarely has an end product & spends far too much time injured. I'd happily see him leave this summer, he's earning far too much money for the contribution he makes. If we are daft enough re-sign Traore & end up relying on Hoilett, Traore & Phillips to stay fit then we'll find ourselves in a very difficult situation very quickly!! The penalty the other night was more down to s**t defending from that donkey Caldwell than Hoilett...

For me Andy Impey was one of the consistently most frustrating players that have ever played for QPR. 424 career games 16 goals. He was forever running the ball into touch.

Hoilett 171 games 24 goals doesn't even come close on the frustration scale.

As an aside, Andy Impey was at both legs of the playoff. Said a brief hello to him as leaving the away game, then saw him again coming out of the Ellerslie on Monday. Fair play to him, in with the Rs fans no airs or graces.

I seem to remember him running past me onto the pitch at Watford a couple years back, dressed very dapper

The problem is that a lot of people on the board want to have something to complain about. Hoilet has been average a part from a few decent points, but he has been no worse than kranjcar or beenyoon (who has had a around 4/5 good matches over the whole season)

If people supported the bloke like they have done recently with BZ then i reckon the same results will be found. I have sat there watching plenty of games this season and people have abused hoilet for everything, and it cant help that help the guy that's all.

Plus i saw very few comments about his involvement in the penalty the other night. It was a nice bit of play from him and BZ and yet everyone focuses on Bobby's offload instead of the touch (which is supposedly so poor) that dragged the ball away from Caldwell.

Yes he ran the ball out a few times when he was trying to waste time, but thats a difficult skill for a guy who is 5.8 or whatever he is.

He worked tirelessly in both legs and should be given some appreciation

Blimey. Impey was part of one of our most successful teams ever, played consistently in the top flight week in, week out and is the only QPR player to win player of the year 3 years in a row (which was quite impressive considering he was playing with the likes of Ferdinand, Bardsley, Wilson, Sinton, McDonald etc)

Hoilett hasn't done, and never will do, any of these things.

Hmm well I thought he was awful on the ball, I'd like to say in possession of it but he never really seemed to have control or end product as others have said. We lost the ball through him far too many times.

Can he be better - you'd hope so, but you'd hope he would be by now. For me his head is not up enough, he runs down blind alleys etc. He is on for his pace which does scare people and arguably gives other room but his end product is decidedly poor.

He did work hard, and did not shy away from getting the ball I give him that. This is something that should be expected of course of every player.

I had high hopes for him - the question is how to change him so he makes the right decisions on the ball a lot more often.

Agree with all that. He's's not proved himself to be as good as Impey. Yes it was the hardest I've ever seen him work in a Rangers shirt and he won the pen on Monday night. But boy was the touch, the dribbling and the genuine football ability missing for the first 70 mins. He would make my starting 11 for the final, and I think he has something to offer, but Andy Impey he is not...yet!

well im not so sure,i used to play as a winger and like many wingers i would play one good game and two bad games and like many wingers in my bad games i would go missing
junior hoilett never boes missing hes couragous and his little body gets kicked all over the place but he never complains he picks himself up and carries on
he is a superstar in the making,he will far surpass impey because hes a more natural finisher, the only problem that we have he may be too good to keep
we definately wont be able to keep charlie austin,he will soon play for england then someone like arsenal will bid twenty million and he will be history
same as ferdinand really ,the only way we can survive is to keep finding young players
and bring them on through to the first team
otherwise we will have another situation, whereby we will drop down a division
