Ryan Nelson 16:58 - Jun 14 with 6833 views | BerkoRanger | about to have a medical at QPR, according to the SSN tickertape. A good solid squad player that will help give us strength in depth and at a really good price! [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Ryan Nelson on 17:06 - Jun 14 with 3678 views | OakwoodR | Adds depth. Better bench warmer than Gabbidon or Hall. Expect 2 or 3 more or this standard to fill the squad out.

Ryan Nelson on 17:11 - Jun 14 with 3640 views | adhoc_qpr | Assuming he passes a medical and is fit, he's an upgrade on Clint Hill but very much in the same mould. Never had injury problems until last season, so assuming it was one injury issue which has now cleared up, great signing! Green, Nelson and AJ on free transfers is good business IMO.
Ryan Nelson on 17:17 - Jun 14 with 3601 views | Northernr | Much like Andy Johnson, it rather depends on who he's replacing. If he's coming in instead of Hall and Gabbidon it's good, anybody else maybe not so much. One thing I found myself writing time and again in the defence end of season report - for Ferdinand, Onuoha, Traore and others - was that apart from Hill we really lack leadership and organisation in defence.
Ryan Nelson on 17:19 - Jun 14 with 3590 views | Jamie | Presumably Sparky just bringing in cover with a player that he has worked with before. Dodgy knees and was set to retire back to MLS before Spurs signed him. Can't help feeling he will be a like for like replacement in the physio room for Shitz Hall but cover is desperately needed everywhere. Green Nelsen Johnson Fabio Diakite Sounds like a summer to me and without spending a fortune again. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeh that would leave us with a team about as good as the one we finished with but a better squad.

And with everything done nice and early and a proper pre-season, a much better crack at it next season.

I suspect Diakite would get almost universal approval, but I do agree with your general point. Few too many Champ Manager veterans I think - Hristo Stoichkov doesn't come to QPR in real life lads. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

But do we need to sign much more than that really though? I'd like to see another centre midfielder for sure (Faurlin injured, Barton banned, Diakite if signed will often be banned!). Having already spent a ton of cash in January i wouldn't blame the club for reigning in spending a bit and i think the players listed will improve the team and squad without breaking the bank.

For me this is the 1st one i've not been happy with, the age of the man and his recent injury problems make me feel this could be a complete waste of a position yet again.Hope i'm wrong.

Another centre mid? You must have forgotten Mr Kieron Dyer. 38 games next season. ATAF.

Diakite would attract universal approval because he is good and YOUNG. With the exception of him, is Hughes trying to assemble a Dad's Army? We had a very old squad last season and Johnson, Nelson, Green are only going to add to the avergae age... Where's the YOUNG talent????

Ryan Nelson on 17:43 - Jun 14 with 3432 views | daveB | we're spending a fortune on wages again by the look of it. I know Nelson is experienced but he's also old and slow. He would have been great for us a few years back but I'm not so sure now even as a squad player. He looked finished at Spurs last season.
Ryan Nelson on 17:44 - Jun 14 with 3437 views | BAWHoops | Dependable if a little slow is the assessment of Spurs fans. SHould be good enough as 3rd/4th choice CB

Ryan Nelson on 17:49 - Jun 14 with 3406 views | adhoc_qpr | Lets give hughes a bit of credit, he won't sign him if he's injured or if his wage demands are excessive. Also having worked with him before he knows his character and what he can offer on the pitch. Better than hall and gabbidon and likely cheaper than their combined wages.

Yeah where is the young, available, cheap, qpr choosing talent. FFS Hughes how hard can it be to find another player like that!

Ryan Nelson on 18:21 - Jun 14 with 3265 views | BAWHoops | I think the squad is looking stronger GK - Green, Cerny DF - Young, Onouha, Ferdinand, Traore, Hill, Nelsen, possibly Fabio? MF - Diakite?, Faurlin, Derry, Barton, SWP, Mackie, Taarabt, Smith ST - Cisse, Zamora, AJ, Helguson Probably need a CM and a winger in there to make us nice and competitive

Depends what you class as 'competitive'. For me personally, 17th will a be perfectly fine result, so long as we are safe before the last day of the season.
