Ok, so we arent doing as well as most of us thought we would.
However, we all know we should have had a new striker in during the last window, but didnt and this appears it might have been a mistake.
If form continues the way it is, Stoke etc will beat us, and we will be almost where we were last season......ergo no real improvement, and a squad thats fat, old, lazy, or comtractually obliged to play every game.
However, next season will need more players, as some will be leaving us, so who do you want to pick those players and next seasons formations?
So, do we keep Warburton (Stick) or do we get rid (twist)

Sure, I get what you're saying and agree with your comments on Warburton.
Having supported QPR since a lad, I guess I can't imagine life not going to games and I think there's a lot like me. In the final analysis, for me my club means more than any manager, even one as good as Warburton.
Totally agree, Support QPR, not owners, managers or players.

I do support the club, hence why I want to see it in safe hands, respected and treasured.
Under this regime we’ve had charlatans in Hughes and Redknapp, JFH’s football was dirge, he disrespected the club with his after dinner speech sideline, mucky. Holloway, as great as he was a player, and first time round as manager, lost the plot.
MW is none of those, has done none of that. He’s about as perfect a fit as we’ll find. He’s had two bad runs, turned one around pretty spectacularly, and now his neck is seemingly on the block; absolute bonkers.

Agreed. Warburton us the man for next season. End of. If that doesn't happen then we'll likely have made a massive mistake

Great post, and it's important that we remember past decisions by the owners and/or board. This is a cracking conversation. You don't get conversations as balanced as this one in many places either on the internet or off it. I've been very busy recently but just wanted to say thanks because I'm enjoying reading it when I can.
I would add this, though - I think Warburton's appointment was the first where Ferdinand got control and maybe got the call? If so - and I don't want Warburton going anywhere, by the way - it would settle my stomach somewhat to know that Ferdinand's record was 1 out of 1.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
I think MW deserves to start next season, especially as there's a natural pause with the World Cup from November. We'll know by then whether this has been a blip or a bigger malaise.
I also think, however, that the club have earned the right with his original appointment - ironically - to make a call on it in good faith. They may believe they have someone better to take the squad on to the next step, and of course there's probably all kinds of stuff backstage we don't know about. Something's obviously happened. Hopefully it's not at board level - but it may be no coincidence that there's someone new on the board none of us know anything about and such a clear disturbance in the force.
There are a couple of hopeful precedents for QPR dispensing with good recruiters and coaches. Twice the club had straightforward and experienced men who had built very good squads and designed an exciting style of play but were nevertheless replaced so the club could progress: Godon Jago gave way to Dave Sexton, Don Howe gave way to Gerry Francis. There's a bit of Jago/Howe about Warburton. Maybe the club have a Gerry (eg. Ainsworth?) or Sexton (eg. Rowett?) up their sleeves. The basis of a very squad is already here, just needs a bit of pace. That's more my hope than an expectation, having lived through the the rest of the club's modern history unfortunately.
This is my first post, btw. I like any cheese really.

Not sure I'd like to be taking over from someone with that kind of approval rating!
It's a big call if they go through with it. Some heads will have to roll if it goes wrong.
It's a tricky position for them. Keep him, maybe pick injuries up in pre-season, maybe a bit of a hangover from the way we've ended this, start next season even moderately badly and the mood will turn horribly quickly. Get rid, very real chance you've ditched a perfect manager for us who's done everything asked of him.
There are two things we don't know when casting our vote... 1 - has something gone on behind the scenes? The total collapse of form suggests it's more than just 'people got injured'. What's gone on? Who's responsible? How's Warbs dealt with it? 2 - Who is a realistic replacement? Because if Pep Guardiola wanted to come, you'd obviouslt shake hands and wave goodbye. If Brian Laws is the best candidate, for goodness sake stick with what you've got. Hopefully they have a good idea and have sounded out who they think they could get, and are therefore in a better position to judge than us, and the twitterati who are about to spend the summer saying their imaginary friend at the training ground reckons Farke is a shoo in.

Seems a bit OTT that you’d cancel your season tickets if a manager left though. Each to their own I guess.

Seconded. 5 here that won’t be renewing if they show him the door

Did you renew when we sacked Don Howe for Gerry Francis ?
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

1) I couldn’t afford a season ticket back then, so it was never an issue; 2) Don Howe wasn’t preceded by the equivalents of McClaren, Holloway, JFH, Redknapp and Hughes. Mullery was useless, but other than that no one compared to that Rogues Gallery so, theoretically, I wouldn’t have dreaded another appalling appointment.
I’m not saying MW is perfect, I’m not saying he hasn’t made mistakes. I’m saying, given the backstory and environment, I think he’s done a pretty exceptional job. I’m sure there are other very good managers out there who are doing exceptional jobs for their clubs in similarly difficult circumstances, but do I think the club could find them? Their record, with the exception of MW, would suggest no. So (1) I don’t think MW deserves to be shown the door (2) I don’t trust the club to make a better appointment (3) I don’t want to go back to listening to “WHY DID YOU GO HOME😡? DON’T BOTHER COMING BACK🥴” , “it is what it is 😴”, “bonus games”, meticulously planning “the business of winning {Premier} league games”.

Said it earlier in the thread, but maybe this is Warburton 's choice, not the boards. Maybe he had a plan to go this summer to try something else; maybe the extra money was to ensure that he stayed for this season.
Also, interested where your bar is for a "good enough" replacement. OK, so you've got Pep at one end and, knowing you, Paul Hart, at the other, but what about in the middle? Ignoring whether any of the following are available and affordable, are they above or below your bar?
Farke Dyche Ainsworth Hughton Darren Moore Manning Warne Wagner Bilic
Personally, I think none of them would be an improvement, so if Warbs wants to stay, stay he should...

I want Warbs to stay, but as you mentioned it is probably more whether he wants to continue, as the nature of his so called rolling contract allows both parties to avoid knee jerk decisions, and why sack a manager with a few games to go, when it might be that both parties have already agreed time to move on. We don't know and basically can't see anything happening on managerial stick or twist front until season has finished.

IF we achieve 69 points (which looks more do-able than a week ago) and IF Warburton wants to stay on, does that constitute the improvement that triggers an automatic contract renewal or do we have to make the play-offs?

Could be a few clubs going into the Championship season managerless - Birmingham on the brink of sacking Bowyer, Blackburn letting Mowbray go when his contract expires, Burnley or Middlesbrough depending on what Chris Wilder does. Add to this the shorter pre-season with the league starting in July due to the World Cup, I don't think its really a great time anyway.
As the season comes to rather lacklustre end for us (bar the sheff match that is), we had our chance, blew it, went back to Toblerone footy, dropped any ideas of doing anything.....some, ever again.
To be so close to the playoffs and not try isnt my fault, its some of the players, and whoever motivates them and tells them too play.
So.....i'm still 'Twisting' , anyone happy with all this shyte and wants to stick? if yes, how do you think this leopard of a team will change it's spots?
