Warburton, Stick or twist? 19:06 - Apr 2 with 76773 views | RangersDave | Ok, so we arent doing as well as most of us thought we would. However, we all know we should have had a new striker in during the last window, but didnt and this appears it might have been a mistake. If form continues the way it is, Stoke etc will beat us, and we will be almost where we were last season......ergo no real improvement, and a squad thats fat, old, lazy, or comtractually obliged to play every game. However, next season will need more players, as some will be leaving us, so who do you want to pick those players and next seasons formations? So, do we keep Warburton (Stick) or do we get rid (twist) I will start this........ Twist

That's not how I read it, Dave. The article itself just states that he is set to be replaced. it has no quotes, no attributions and no author or byline. There's a link to a Dave McIntyre article that's nine days old which is just the interview we know about. That's dreadful clickbait from WLS, and if it was any other news site we'd call them on it.

It’s certainly strange. It’ll be right because Dave’s never wrong but he’s tweeting that it’s “been the case for a while” as if it’s old news, without ever publishing a story to that effect. Picturing my boss’ face as I tell him “of course I knew the head of BBC1 is leaving, it’s been the case for a while” without having published a story on it. The whole thing’s odd really. How on Earth have we got to here this quickly?

Ya, I don't get it at all. I'm happy to wait for background stories to emerge generally. They always do. Will have to do the same here.

Warburton, Stick or twist? on 23:00 - Apr 13 with 1971 views | WatfordR | I suppose you have to ask, is he going because of the dip in form, or is the dip in form because he's going? I'm not sure I can really think of anyone in the British game who I'd want to replace him who is likely to come. All really disappointing. [Post edited 13 Apr 2022 23:17]

Ridiculous, if true, particularly when you consider the ‘performance’ of those standing in judgement over him and making these decisions. He’s got far more right than wrong, imo, since he’s been here. By and large he’s got us playing good, entertaining football, on a fraction of the budget of his predecessors, finishing higher in the league, whilst losing his best players and developing youngsters for sale. The squad’s suffered badly with injuries this season and our two marquee signings have let him down badly. He’s about the only thing those above him have gotten right and yet, if true, he’ll be gone whilst they stumble from one balls up to the next. Hope this is wrong. The thought of the idiots that run this club trying to find a better option is depressing. How many appointments have they got right up until now?

Warburton, Stick or twist? on 23:19 - Apr 13 with 1895 views | queensparker | Gutted about this. In the space of two months we’ve gone from someone who 99% of fans saw as the the long term future of our club to binning the whole thing off to… what? Surely if he’s got us to this position he deserves the chance to learn from the mistakes and do it again? The total collapse in form is bizarre and I wonder what will come out eventually about that if anything. But I don’t trust that the club has a long term strategy here. They’re just going to grab someone/anyone and we start from square one again

If they don't appoint someone who meets with fans approval, they're going to see ST sales for next season collapse. It appears to me to be an unnecessary risk. We'll see.

And it’s about the only thing they’ve got right in amongst a sea of balls ups. They stumbled on something and are too stupid to realise it. Do you trust them to make a better appointment?

Warburton, Stick or twist? on 23:37 - Apr 13 with 1829 views | SydneyRs | Was just looking up Brentford's past managers to see who would be next if we are following them. Wasn't aware that Warburton had the highest win percentage of any their managers (going back to 1900), and by some distance too. Can't help thinking we are about to make a huge mistake here and I do wonder if its something personal.

There will be some who would kick off if he stays as well. We can't pretend the last 2 months haven't happened. You would hope the club block out the noise and made a considered decision which they think is the best way forward, whatever they do some people won't like it. If it was up to me I'd stick with him but I don't think it's a crazy idea to make a change in the summer

If they follow a similar process to last time when they got Warburton I'd have a bit more faith and confidence but I don't disagree with you to be honest, I'm nervous about who's next
Warburton, Stick or twist? on 06:52 - Apr 14 with 1646 views | PunteR | Something has gone wrong behind the scenes. One day we'll get that bit of luck where everything clicks into place and we'll get this club up and running again.

Warburton, Stick or twist? on 07:34 - Apr 14 with 1601 views | davman | None of us appear to know any details and a lot of this is pure speculation, but maybe, just maybe, this is not the club's decision? Maybe Warburton's head has been turned by another job somewhere? He's approaching retirement age, so one more payday? He may be aware that this season was a kind of "all or nothing" with the board spending the last of the P&S gamble fund in the summer faced with the probability of yet another wage purge? Maybe in January, he saw the future when we couldn't raise any more transfer fees and didn't fancy having to see yet another period of halving the wage bill and having to improve? We already know we spend around £1m per month more than we earn, whilst still being in the lower half of the wage payers in the Championship, so maybe, just maybe, it needs to be a wholesale sale of any assets we have to balance the books, then another rebuild with a League One type wage cut? Maybe he thought one miracle is all I can afford for this club? ... Or maybe I am making it all up... If they have genuinely decided to get rid, getting rid before the end of this season might not be a bad thing.... Never boring, eh?
