There was lots of dancing, the odd punch and a bloke at one point had a bit of a kip on the floor. Millwall fans come bowling in to another town yet again. Utter mayhem The game will be played at he newly named stadium also known as the ‘ Used to be called the Liberty stadium’ in Swansea. Swansea City v Millwall : Matchday Thread 2020/21 GAME ON ! on 22:03 - Sep 15 with 1150 views | Fireboy2 | Didn't get to watch the last two games but I've been told by a reliable friend who knows his stuff that grimes is the problem, he slows us down when we need to quicken it up. I'd have downes as the holding midfielder and ntcham and fulton further up the field but we all know that is not going to happen.

Swansea City v Millwall : Matchday Thread 2020/21 GAME ON ! on 21:55 - Sep 15 by magicdaps10 | Tell you something, would drop Grimes for the next game and go Ntcham and Downes! Grimes doesn't help with a game that needs speeding up, doesn't help at all... Not saying he is a not a good player but he doesn't have that creativity when playing possession based football, need someone with a bit of thrust in the middle and a straight shoot out for the holding role, Downes at present wins that holding role over Grimes. |
Totally agree. Grimes doesn't suit the style of play Martin wants. Every pass slows the momentum down or goes back. He's also anonymous as Captain, never see him urging the team on. Thought Hamer was motm, and liked Obafemi and Walsh when they came on. Would like to see combination of Obafemi, Ntacham, Piroe, Walsh, Paterson middle / top of the park

Funny that how I was shouted down last season for saying the same! Maybe thats why Potter played him at left back

Coopers first season, first 7 games = 81 attempts (33 on target) Coopers second season, first 7 games = 78 attempts (27 on target) This season, first 7 games = 65 attempts (22 on target) Another myth sadly. |
Well atleast we are hitting the target more from shots this season, something to build on going forward.

Tbh alot of people said the same, we would win the ball back and instead of getting the ball forward before the opposition can reset we just passed the ball back and grimes was the biggest perpetrator.
Swansea City v Millwall : Matchday Thread 2020/21 GAME ON ! on 22:08 - Sep 15 with 1103 views | AndyCole | Odd how some choose to lash out on our talisman, Grimesy. Martin's captain and main man, as per. Downes was a spare part, a waste of a shirt playing alongside Naughts. Martin needs to flex his model of always playing one (and often 2) deep lying CDMs. So yesteryear. . .

At present I would only consider Grimes on the left hand side of the back 3. Taking too many touches and is playing the cautious style far to much and it looks like he is struggling to get that out his system.

Possibly, depends what way you look at the glass I suppose. But one thing, going by those stats then we are hitting the target more from shots as it stands, being a bit braver in the final third would she the shot numbers go up and possibly see the shots on target get lower but we might start scoring goals. Ultimately we need quality in that final third and need to be brave and try things to start hitting the back of the net.

Coopers first season-81 shots/33 on target=avg 2.45 a game. Coopers second season-78/27=avg 2.88 This season-65/22=avg 2.95. Based on first 7 games. It ultimately means nothing but atleast it's a positive however slight it is.

Downes - Nitcham - Walsh Grimes was atrocious today, I don’t think he played a single ball forward in the entire first half. And if anyone thinks Manning should be in front of Bidwell surely tonight his performance tonight says it all. Bidwell please. Edit - I honestly think this evening showed that it’s Grimes getting in the way of Downes- not the other way off . Grimes if nothing else has strengthened Fulham by not going there this season. Swansea City v Millwall : Matchday Thread 2020/21 GAME ON ! on 22:22 - Sep 15 with 988 views | jasper_T | Downes offers less than Grimes does in that position. Apart from a couple of dribbles in the second half it's just as sideways and backwards as Grimes has been accused of being, without Grimes' occasional long diagonal to speed us up. Downes was the deepest man for much of the first half with Naughton ushered forward to be playmaker in his place. Then Grimes drops in for the ball as he does, and we've just got Piroe and Paterson up the field (Ntcham a bit of a passenger today). It's going to be difficult to create chances with both Downes and Grimes and three centre halves on the pitch at once. Both very good midfielders but the balance isn't right. A Gerrard and Lampard situation.

Both looked good tonight, Grimes was Grimes, Paterson worked hard, but missed a great chance, ball might have come to quick at him, sometimes you get the rub of the green and sometimes you don't, we definitely upped our game with Walsh and Obafemi on the pitch. On another night and all that.

You are using the wrong calculations. For some reason you are dividing shots on target by shots. To get shots on target per game you have to divide shots on target by games. Coopers first season 33/7 = 4.7 shots on target per game Coopers second season 27/7 = 3.8 shots on target per game This season 22/7 = 3.1 shots per game

I think Patterson had his most effective game for us in fairness. Grimes is a fraud end of. A roofer pretending to be a championship midfield player

Paterson's movement was the only thing we had going for us for most of the first half. We need another of him out there rather than dropping him, despite his lack of bite in the final third. Manning's no wing back. Don't think this shape suits our squad at all despite all the signings. Even Laird doesn't look comfortable making runs in behind from his advanced wingback position, he always gets the ball with 3 players to beat in front of him.

Hardly saw anything of the first half so can't comment, we definitely short on the left and we're asking Manning to do something he's rarely done before coming here IMO Pity we had to take Piroe off, might have worked out better with a Obafemi, Piroe and Walsh behind.

I am basing it on the amount of shots we are getting on target.... Accuracy. So over those 7 games we have a higher % of those shots hitting the target, nothing to get excited over if we compare goals or league position based on those 7 games but this season can't be compared to the last 2 seasons taking things into consideration.
