McDonald or Oyston don't seem in a rush! 13:21 - Jun 2 with 3201 viewsSouthPier

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that ex-West Ham assistant boss Neil McDonald is set for talks with Blackpool over the vacant manager's job.

McDonald is currently out of work after leaving West Ham along with Sam Allardyce straight after the final game of the season at Newcastle.

The 49-year-old is thought to be keen to take up a management role in his own right with Allardyce believed to be considering taking a break from football before returning to the dugout.

McDonald has primarily been an assistant manager to Allardyce, with the pair having worked together at Bolton, Blackburn and West Ham.

McDonald's first experience of being a manager was when he took charge of Carlisle for one season in 2006-07 before a brief spell at Swedish club Ostersunds.

The former Newcastle and Everton defender is expected to hold talks with Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston this week about succeeding Lee Clark at Bloomfield Road following his departure at the end of last season.

Oyston has made McDonald his top choice to take charge at Blackpool as they look to put a disastrous Championship campaign behind them and mount a bid for promotion from League One next season.

Well if McDonald has taken advice on the job I would personally be amazed if he goes anywhere near stepping over that door step at Bloomfield Road.
