o/t For Exiles - what's happening at Blackpool Airport? on 20:17 - May 17 with 2860 views | scratchingshed | Just like the owners of Blackpool football club the owners of Blackpool airport (Balfour Beatty) have managed what was a nice little business and used by thousands of people have simply managed to kill it in such a short space of time, why? No wonder Balfour Beatty as a group have hit Rick bottom with a management team like they have in place, with no experience in the aviation industry it was a disaster waiting to happen and it has. This week has seen the auctioning off of vital airfield equipment in particular fire tenders, scanning machines, houchin ground power generators, aircraft steps, and yet a spokesman for Balfour Beatty has said it won't impact any future growth at the airport really? The airports only operator City Wing had to cancel its flights to the Isle of Man/Belfast the other week as all the security people had been laid off by Balfour Beatty days later City Wing recruited staff it's self so it could continue the service but the terminal was closed down as a cost saving measure so a porta cabin has now been hastily acquired by City Wing to act as an emergency terminal. Just like Blackpool fc no news ever comes out from the top at Balfour Beatty so no one really knows what's going on but one thing is for sure these two companies have a lot to answer for in the way these two great assets of the town have been killed off by imcompetent management. Shameful.

o/t For Exiles - what's happening at Blackpool Airport? on 23:26 - May 17 with 2829 views | BringBackTheRedRoom | Think Balfour Beatty only own 90-95% of the land at the airport. Council still own 5-10% of the land. Sure someone can confirm if this is true or not?

The council have just a 5% holding so Balfour Beatty own the other 95%. As for the land it was recently given an enterprise status to both protect it from developers and generate new business to the area. A complete waste of time if you ask me, as the airport is more at risk from its present owners than any future developers turning it in to a new housing estate.
