| Forum Thread | So who did MK Dons fans support before 2004? at 20:56 11 Aug 2014
Just noticed MK Dons vs AFC Wimbledon in the cup tomorrow and got me thinking who did Milton Keynes fans support before 2004? And whats your thoughts on where to keep the original Wimbledon FC's history and heritage and silverware (including the 1988 FA Cup trophy)?Should AFC get to keep it or should it just be kept in a football museum for example (I think a council in South West London were keeping it but no idea where it is kept now). Some would argue that MK Dons are a legal continuation of Wimbledon FC as they took over the club at its time in administration (albeit moving them 50 odd miles away from their home) and kept them alive. Others would say that AFC were formed in 2002 when Wimbledon FC were still in operation and playing in the football league, how could one of two clubs playing at the same period claim to be the other. Whilst others would say that the location, fans passion and community spirit of the original Wimbledon FC lies with AFC The chairman of MK Dons has always said he would be happy to drop the "Dons" part if the supporters demanded it.Surely ,well for me anyway,I couldn't live with having another clubs name attached to my football club.Hopefully one day Milton Keynes will do the right thing. |
