| News Comment | Prodigal Son Could Return To St Mary's at 18:41:34
Really rated him before he left, thought he would be a huge star but as usual the grass is not always greener. Would be interested in this but only at the right price - £15 million is way too much. |
| News Comment | Clasie Tops Lazio's Wish List ! at 18:38:53
I hope he gets run in the team - I rate him as a player and he got very few chances last season under Puell, maybe the new manager will utilise him more and we can get the best out of him. I would keep him over Hojbjerg any day. |
| News Comment | Are Liverpool At It Again? at 12:15:17
John Aldridge is doing the same to add to the ever increasing list of ex Liverhampton players putting their 2p's worth in! Hi is suggesting VVD goes on strike to force a move - an absolute disgrace. |
| News Comment | It's A Done Deal ! Does This Signify The End Of Manchester United As An Honourable Football Club at 10:38:22
What really irkes me with this is the possibility that this has all gone on while Cline should be concentrating on giving his contracted club Saints 100% to the end of the season in games that are vital for our club and our European ambitions. Its going the same way with Cline as it went with SRL, LiarLanna and LoveHIMSELFren where moves are concidered and players hearts get set on them before the season is over. I expect to loose Spider and Cline in the summer and I will wish them both well if they give us everything till the end of the season and then talk to other clubs with Saints blessing in the summer. Saints players and England duty seem to be a curse as these stories seem to pop up after England get togethers, the same happened last year. |
| News Comment | Clyne's Ambition's A Drawback Of Success For Saints But Also A Positive. at 09:34:16
As you say its laughable paper spin, the headlines dont match the quotes at all but Cline and Spider will both go in the summer and I for one will wish them both well and thank them for what they have done for our club - as long as we let clubs bid it out so we get as much cash as possible back for them and then let Koeman invest the bulk of the money I wil lbe happy as I know we have great replacements in our youth ranks and I have faith in Koeman also buying the right players also. | News Comment | Manchester United To Offer Saints Player Swap Deal For Clyne at 09:28:22
Totally agree with ElSanto and Schatfield, he is a quality proven goal scorer and I would love to see him at Saints, he is the natural poacher finisher that we need BUT only if he wants to be here next season which I think he might now as we are a different prospect now. I can totally understand him picking Real over Saints last Summer, in the real world and taking away our Saints loyalties we would pick the best job prospect too with the best wages at one of the biggest clubs in the world but now at this point in his career regular first team football at a great football club with incredible facilities may appeal. | News Comment | Three Games That Will Define The Season at 10:59:23
Totally agree Nick - a huge game at Sheffield United and one we have to win and we have to put out our best team possible - no resting players or trying kids. I still remeber so fondly being at the ZDS cup final when I was a young kid with my Saints supporting family and despite us loosing 2-3 the game was incredible and the atmosphere was so amazing it had a huge part in hooking me on Saints for life and hundreds of games home and away and several season tickets later the rest is history. | News Comment | Time To Beat United And Kill The Ghost Of 2005 at 11:11:57
Totally agree - I was there for both games and it is one of the reasons I still really dislike Man United, Keane was a disgrace - the Wimbledon game was what football should be about, we know what relegation is like and understand how it feels and as you say we applauded the Wimbledon players and their fans applauded our players and after the game we were shaking hands with the Dons fans and wishing them well, having relegation rubbed in your face is out of order. |
| News Comment | Saints Get Home Draw In Carling Cup 3rd Round at 11:43:24
Great draw - with the high amount of Premiership clubs facing each other a lot will be eliminated giving us a great chance if we can push on past Bristol and get another kind draw. We should take this competition very seriously, we have a realistic chance of a trip to Wembley with good performaces and kind home draws and as the Swans prove last year a club of our standing could win this thing. |
| News Comment | Congratulations Super Rickie Lambert A Genuine Fairytale at 09:30:52
About time England management! come on SRL, if you get on that pitch take your chance and give Roy something to think about in the 2 September qualifiers. So over the moon for Rickie and this can only benefit our club as if Rickie has the prospect of Brazil pushing him on to score and play out of his skin for us that would be great. It also sends out a message to Shaw, Clyne, Rodriguez etc that you can play for Saints and still make the England team - too many poor players get in the England team just because they warm the bench for a top 4 side. COME ON SRL - DO YOURSELF AND SAINTS PROUD ON WEDNESDAY! |
| News Comment | Why Is Billy Sharp Persona Non Grata At St Mary's ? at 14:19:56
Iceberg - No doubting we are one of the best teams in the Prem - probably the country - for giving good young english talent a chance and bringing them on but in Sharp I see a good player who was pushed aside to make room for a more expensive and as I beleive pooper player in Mayuka. Saying that Mayuka was also not given much of a chance either and he could turn out to be a great player given time but he has been given more opertuninty than Sharp and in my view was less deserving. Great discussing this with you, really enjoying the debate! 11 days to go - cant wait now!! COYR!!!! |
| News Comment | Why Is Billy Sharp Persona Non Grata At St Mary's ? at 11:28:18
Iceberg - that is just it though - he has not been given a chance to prove if he can or cant score in the Premier league - he has proved he can in the Championship and League 1 with a great scoring record but how will he progress if not given the chance in the Prem? Its good english players not getting a chance because of foreign players who are no better that is hurting Engalnd at a national level too. He has been harshly treated in my view - he earned his shot at the prem with a great finish to the Championship season with us and a great pre-season and was then dropped - its not the money that makes me feel he is harshly treated as we all know footballers are far too richly rewarded in that area! |
| News Comment | Mayuka To Wigan Athletic ? at 10:56:19
Agree with Tree Hugger and Nick on this one - Billy Sharp has been very harshly treated and not give a chance in the Premier league - give him a chance from the bench this year as he is a poacher who will score goals if given chances. I hope Mayuka can do well for us in the future but would pick Sharp over him on our bench any day - if we can get our anything like our money back on Mayuka I say take it. |
| News Comment | Why Is Billy Sharp Persona Non Grata At St Mary's ? at 10:45:54
Billy has been treated terribly by the club in my view - his goals in our Championship promotion season got us to the Prem when we looked to be faltering a bit and he was then not given the chance to prove himself in the Prem. Billy is a natural goal poacher who seems to have that knack of being in the right place at the right time just like Lineker used to. I think he deserves his place on our bench this season to at least have the chance to see if he can cut it in the big league - he could well score us some very important late goals as a last 15/20 minute sub. Give him a chance MoPo! |
| News Comment | Saints Round Of Tour With A Win at 10:58:42
That is certainly true about Mayuka, he does run around like a headless chicken, he mistimes his runs and his finishing needs improvement and the BWP comparisons are true but I think I have seen enough to give him another shot this season from the subs bench - if he can iron out these kinks he may have a future with us and can hopefully chip in with some important goals. Its our right back situation that is causing me concern at the moment - I guess we can call on Cork to deputise there if necessary but I want him fighting for his postion in our midfield really. |
| News Comment | Saints Round Of Tour With A Win at 10:21:36
Saw the highlights of the game and although Saints were opened up a few times we looked good and to be fair to him Mayuka took his goal really well, it was a cracking finish as was Rickie's. Mayuka was making some great runs and if he can continue to finish like that may have a place as a impact sub in the coming season. Great report as always - looking forward to the new season - CANT WAIT! COYR!! |
| News Comment | Schneiderlin Triumphs At Official Club Awards at 10:39:44
Well deserved, he would have been my choice for player of the season with Clyne a close second. Think all he needs to do now is add a few more goals and he will be the perfect midfielder. I like the way he has stayed loyal too and hope that can continue as there will be clubs hunting him this summer but I am sure he wants to stay and we do not need to sell as a club. |
| News Comment | Job Done ! at 09:16:05
Job done indeed! Well done Saints and looking forward to another season in the Prem next season! I would have taken this at the start of the season for sure, yeah it is dissapointing that we did not surge away from the relegation places as we could have done a few weeks ago but we have acheived what we set out to do and that is retain our Premiership status. Bring on Stoke and a party atmosphere! I hope that the likes of Forren, Ward Prowse, Mayuka etc get a start to see what they can do over 90 minutes, we need to see if they can step up in the coming seasons - a couple of good signings in the summer and we can push on to try and secure a mid table finish next season without the relegation worries! | News Comment | Crucial Fixtures At The Weekend at 09:53:04
As much as I would love to beleive differently I think Spurs will beat us on Saturday but I do think we can get another 4 points out of the remaining games after that match. As you say the West Brom Wigan game is huge - if Wigan loose that then I think their goose is cooked and we can all breath a little easier but if they win then I think we should all be very wary. I am and have been firmly in the court of not counting our chickens before they hatch and being very cautious but I am still sure we will do enough to stay away form the bottom 3. COYR! |
| News Comment | A Tribute To Kevin Moore at 09:47:43
RIP Kevin, my thoughts are with your family at this very sad time. As others have stated you were a fantastic servant to our club and I also remember being at Wembley for that incredible come back from 2 goals down to force injury time and the towering header from Kevin to get that 2nd goal. Shame the result went against us in the end but still one of my best away days following the Saints. |
