When can we ask for CR to go? 13:12 - Aug 10 with 7193 views | WestonsuperR | I didn't want Ramsey to be given the job when Harry left, I had massive concerns over his lack of managerial experience and wondered if he would have the gravitas to motivate, particularly with the experienced pro's. Ramsey was given a clear task, keep us up and keep the job and although I didn't agree with the appointment I felt that was fair. This task was failed miserably so to then give him the job sent out completely the wrong message but do get that is a different argument and one that has passed now. So I didn't want him initially, I didn't agree he should have had a permanent role and I don't want him in charge now but fear getting slated on here for suggesting he should go after just 1 match. This isn't a knee-jerk reaction to one defeat, especially as for a short period v Charlton we looked ok, this is a long-term view. I wonder how many others agree with me?

I don't think every other club is up to speed yet, saw a few games at the weekend where players were struggling after 60 minutes. Possibly due to modern way of doing things, gone are the days when players had to do running in pre season and started the season very fit, thats seen as old fashioned these days

Rome?Managed to dominate a fair proportion of the place while it was still under construction. That Colosseum should be nice when it's finished btw.

When can we ask for CR to go? on 18:14 - Aug 10 with 1762 views | simmo | It amazes me that people still think changing the manager will solve QPR's problems. Of course so many of the problems we have are down to him and his inability to make a shit team any good in the premiership or make sure a team in a massive transition phase hit's the ground running and wins games despite being hamstrung by a shit pre-season. We are a club switching from spending 10m on a single player to having to wait for loan fees to come through before pulling the trigger on new signings. From paying 60-80k per week to paying 10-15. The buck doesn't stop with him, especially so early in the season. He's had a pre-season and 1 competitive game to work with the players he has, some of which have been here less than a week, some of which don't want to be here but can't secure a move elsewhere. Even amongst all of that I have still seen signs of progression, green shoots of playing a more attacking and passing game of football built on pace, mobility and transitions. None of which we saw from previous managers, even when they had tens of millions to spunk on whoever they wanted. This level of reaction after one game is unsurprising, but pretty sad. Especially when QPR and the club in general (including Ramsey) are finally starting to do things closer to how I and most of us previously have wanted.

When can we ask for CR to go? on 17:10 - Aug 10 by Firehoop | You have to give Chris at least ten games to make a proper judgement for gods sake, we lost on sat because of lack of fitness which a crap pre-season didn't help. Remember there were some good things in the first half and the signs are good. We are gonna lose games but remember what the aim is this season. We are building and it will take time, promotion is not our aim this season ! Keep the faith peeps. Com on Urrrrrs ! |
Ten games is not enough You are asking him to change the whole ethos of the club , from throwing good money after bad to running a budget , identifying talent from lower leagues ,and bringing through kids . Ten games in the Championship is about 6 weeks

When can we ask for CR to go? on 14:33 - Aug 10 by whittocksRs | I'm concerned with how unfit the team looks, and that once again we've completely cocked up pre-season, and Ramsey has to take some blame for that, as does Lee Hoos. Not entirely their fault though. Don't understand why the OP thinks 'experienced pros' would be the unmotivated ones; surely it's the inexperienced ones who're more likely to disrespect authority or ignore the manager? You know, you get better at your job the longer you are there, and you're more likely to offer help, not hinder, if you think your well-meaning boss is struggling. If you've got a summer job as a teenager, you don't give a sh*t about the management or its struggles. Strange logic to think otherwise. Ramsey's signings seem solid so far, though he should have focused on defence more, as we could be forced into spending a lot towards the end of the window if we continue shipping goals. Wiser investment earlier in the summer might have avoided that. So jury is out, but again benefit of the doubt. As a long-term process aiming to change the philosophy of the club Ramsey fits the bill, and that's why we should be sticking with him. I think a lot of Rs' fans seem to be very spoilt these days. |
My thought was that experienced pro's may find it hard to take Advice, Tactic's, motivation from someone that has very limited managerial experience, they may in fact think they have better knowledge of the Premier League themselves. Would Barton, Green and Ferdinand for example really been able to 'buy-in' to someone that has only managed Charlston Battery? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He is well known in the game . Not one of the experienced pros have attacked his methods . Barton in particular is never shy of highlighting a managers shortcomings
When can we ask for CR to go? on 20:52 - Aug 10 with 1449 views | SomersetHoops | I'm becoming concerned that our new CEO is making decisions that are not correct for our club. He is used to a situation where teams have been built progressively over a long period and may not appreciate that we must build a team practically from scratch in one transfer window that can at least compete in the Championship. That takes more money than has so far been spent by QPR this summer. Shouting our mouths off about how much we want for players is another way to ensure they don't go until the last minute of the transfer window if at all. We have obvious shortages of defenders and I'm certain Ramsey would have targets to fill those positions as I am certain that Konchelski would not have been one of them. After all the money that has been spent in previous seasons it would only take moderate spending to get what we need if we look in the right places and take the risk that our better coaching regime can actually improve players, rather than make them worse as has happened under the crap that went before. When it comes to selling players, the price is set by what the buyer will pay and if we genuinely think a player is worth more than that we should have demonstrated it by ensuring he/they had a new contract. Lets talk about match fitness; anyone listening to the podcast this week would have heard Kevin Gallen and Jamie Mackie saying there is no substitute for playing 90 minutes in properly competitive matches. How many of our team have played 90 minutes in one competitive match during the fiasco of a pre season that somebody organised? I bet it wasn't Ramsey who organised it. Some people want to blame Ramsey for the shambles of an unbalanced non-team that Reknapp left behind and that he played bad tactics because the players he had weren't capable of anything else. Perhaps he did make a few mistakes, but those were mostly when he tried to get that lot to play in the way he wanted when they weren't capable or interested in doing it. I'm not saying Ramsey is a great manager, but QPR cannot attract a great manager, even if we could find one who is available, unless we pay them way over the top. Perhaps people need to get real and understand what a poisoned Chalice the QPR's management job has become after seeing how the last few have fared. What I am saying is Ramsey is still being hamstrung by people not providing the necessary resources to him as he was when he took the temporary position days after the transfer window had closed. I don't think Ramsey has had a fair crack due to the problems outlined above and getting on his back after one game is what I expect from some parts of the QPR fanbase who think there are a queue of top managers eager to deal with the problems QPR presents. Well this may be news to them , but there isn't. We would be better complaining about the issues that are preventing our manager doing the best job he can and giving him a reasonable chance. I would expect he is complaining about these issues and perhaps he needs to be tougher in demanding they are sorted out, but his strength in that will only be reduced if those with the power to resolve them think he hasn't got the support of the fans. I am beginning to be concerned about the role our Director of Football Les Ferdinand is playing in this. Is he responsible for some of the problems, or is he just not being tough enough in getting them sorted. Anyway the answer to the question posed will depend in part how things go over enough games with these issues resolved for him to have had a reasonable chance.

When can we ask for CR to go? on 00:19 - Aug 11 with 1184 views | Hooped_Pullie | Ramsey did nothing to improve matters last season. We have lost, pretty miserably, 2-0 to Charlton. If we lose to Yeovil - then lose at home to Bardiff on Sat - then go to Wolves and get tonked, the natives will be more than restless. Should the above happen, change may come a hell of a lot sooner than many on here think. I don't want Fat Sam here (Redknobb mark 2 and just as useless) but we need someone who can command the dressing room and knows how to get players to concentrate for the whole 90 minutes. We need to defend as a unit for the entire game, grind out the 0-0's before we think of winning. Ramsey is spouting bollox about seven players in attack. It won't be long now… [Post edited 11 Aug 2015 0:24]

In that case I accept my criticism is unfair and had assumed he probably had some influence from when his appointment was announced which is obviously wrong. So the problems must be down to someone. I just hope whoever makes these decisions realises that some action is required.
