This goes to show you playing possession football means nothing when you don’t score enough, and losing this game against a team with only half a team with regular starters and half a team made up of reserve youngsters is a devastating result for Saints. What we can’t do lm afraid is defend for a full game and sooner or later you just know that we will give a goal away.Definitely no automatic promotion now and if we don’t watch out we may still be in the championship next season.

That’s the reason we would not survive in the premiership if we ever were unlucky enough to get promoted
Too many opportunities needed to score
The opposite as regards defending
When reality is mentioned you are classed as pessimistic
Personally I think it’s been an enjoyable season
But we need a massive clear out
To me the reality is we are nowhere good enough, if you base standards on premier requirements
Whether you want to blame the manager for his style of football is immaterial
You cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear

When we needed a win we got 6 nailed on chances missed, a petulant display in the second half, masses of passes missed and a McCarthy near post classic.

Oh well, it's important to see getting to the playoffs as a success and not a booby prize.

I'm guessing Bednarek's yellow means he misses the Leicester game?

If I did my job as badly as A Armstrong and Adams did I would expect be disciplined for poor performance but, hey, I’m sure they’ll just smile & wave and get on with it…..

Awful finishing yet again.
5 or 6 excellent chances missed.
We should have been out of sight at HT.
Further chances in 2nd Half.
Gift them a goal.
Panic.

We are joint top scorers in the league, yet throw away so many points.
We are being punished for not signing the quality Striker and Keeper we have needed all season.

Really disappointing against an injury hit Cardiff side. Missed so many chances again. Sums up our season, dominate games but can’t finish teams off and pay the price. Wicked deflection for their winner, can’t blame McCarthyism for the goals.

Huge loss to see Armstrong looking to be ruled out for the rest of the season.

Despite missing a hatful of chances I thought we didn’t play well and failed to control the game.

The play offs it is then.

Once more lack of effort in second half. Playing ball around in and about penalty area with a goalie no good with his feet asking for trouble and low and behold an easy win turned into a loss.

Predictable. It was only going to end one way after some of the most woeful attempts at shots I've ever seen. The team should be ashamed of themselves and I don't think they were helped by a random handful of subs at 80 mins by an incompetent manager who has no idea how to what to do to positively affect the game.
Bloody useless.

The idea of an RM managed Saints in the Prem next season is, at one level, what we all hope for and why we are so disappointed at such a performance and result. On the other hand graveworm's point (so good he made it four times) that going up might not be a good thing is very valid. RM is managing a top team in THIS league and we are as open, and flaky, at the back as I have ever seen us. I will be delighted if we do go up (no point being a supporter if not) but would be fearful of RM trying to play like this in the Prem (as he would) without the resources to get the players needed (they have to be very good to play this way and we won't have the money)

I blame RM for many of our woes but the failure to put seems to the sword and the missing of easy chances is largely down to the personnel on the pitch. In the end, although Adams and Armstrong have scored a fair few between them they have missed sitters at vital times (esp. Adams) and the back-up players have not been up to it.

The play-offs will be anyone's guess. We have to beat two of Leeds/Ipswich, WBA and Norwich. Not easy at all.

Missied chances last season cost us our PL place Missed chances this season looks like costing us an automatic promotion It could also cost us a play off promotion

How many matches have there been when we only play one half Sometimes the first sometimes the second I do wonder if the coaching team give them too much information at half time which leaves them confused
