Standing on a terrace in the rain 22:15 - Jan 5 with 6010 viewsThe_Beast1976

Anyone remember when this was a regular occurrence? Remember getting absolutely soaked in the corner pen of the terrace at Palace away in the early 90s. Finished 2-2 I think. Great times

Standing right behind the goal in the Loft for a midweek game at home to Arsenal in a cup competition. We won 3-1 but the rain was biblical.
A wag at the time was telling all and sundry that all the QPR goals were scored by players with a surname beginning with a W; Wilkins, Wegerle and that Wαnker Clark,

The grass is always greener.

Standing on the West Paddock terracing I seem to remember getting absolutely soaked as we battered Spurs 4-1 in October 1992.

The night the floodlights failed in the run up to the cup game against Forest was pretty cold too, stood around freezing for 45mins or so before they called it off.

I remember it well, took over 5 hours to drive home that night in my Escort van with my eldest lad in the front and two lads in the back (one of them a Makem) freezing fog for most of the journey and it pissed down with rain on the way up there.
What made it even worse was all three of them were pissed on the way back and talking bolox and all three of them were extremely bloody windy.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Once the Floodlights came on we didn't have a shot were absolutly fkn useless , no singing, no shots no football no nothing no future no hope i.e typical fkn QPR. And then I went back the next week
But we were there and the thing is........

Worst night ever at a football match and one I speak about as much as I do days out at Wembley... That journey back to the Grove in clothes that were stuck to me long before I even made it to the open air terraces of that kip on what was probably the wettest, coldest night I've endured in my life. Remember my mum saying to me at about 5pm, "surely you're not heading over there in this - you're mad". Yep, no argument to that one til this day

After a Luton midweek away game in the 80’s the heavens opened on the journey home.Unfortunately I was driving an old mk 3 Capri with dodgy windscreen wipers. There was a switch on the dashboard with faulty wiring that I had to have 1 hand on for the whole journey back to London or the wipers stopped working. Not ideal when you need 1 hand for changing gear and one for steering with. The radio stayed on the same channel for the whole journey.

The 4-2 at Chesterfield in the sleet was a memorable one.

seemed to rain, snow and than hail during that game, went to the toilet for cover and there was no roof and the floor was flooded with piss. Happy Days

Came out after the game and the police tried to march my misses back to the train station despite us going to the game on the coach, the legendary Dave Thomas saved us by distracting the jobsworth whilst my misses got away and we managed to get onto the coach

After the game a QPR fan smashed Ray Harfords windscreen in so he had to drive home whilst getting wet

There was a bit of an atmosphere after the game wasn’t there?I had my 11 year old daughter with me and the police were talking about people getting stabbed on the way back to the station.
Was it a week before Christmas?Very friendly gesture by some of their fans.

My one is Swindon away, definitely a Saturday 3 o'clock, maybe 20 years ago. Was it a league game ? I have no idea, but just remember standing on an open terrace soaked to the skin. Did we win? No idea, only remember the squelchy walk back to the station.

How about standing on the coldest terrace

Huddersfield away FA Cup early 80’s, pre Mcalpine, lost as well

That was really cold but Forest was properly Baltic on every visit. I remember spending most games taking shelter from the wind at the tea bar.

Fortunately undercover during the game, but the last time I got properly soaked at football was away at Bolton about three years ago. Absolute non-stop deluge from about 2pm to 7pm that night, I remember huddling with complete strangers at that toy-town little station and then a panic to get on to a two-car puffer train (we didn't).

If its the one i remember it was a 3-1 defeat with a certain Eric Sabin playing for Swindon.
Was also freezing there when they recorded their first win in the premiership if i remember rightly and you couldnt get a hot drink from the kiosk as apparently the pipes had frozen.

Also not rain but remember getting soaked by the snow in the 1-0 home win against Birmingham when Gareth was in charge

It was either that one (3-1 defeat in March 2003), or the one in January 2000 (won 1-0). One was freezing and one was hosing it down

Wettest I ever got was Swindon. Had to take my jeans off in the pub after and hang them on the radiator.

Coldest is a toss up between that open terrace at Oldham, and Ayrsome park
