Completely bypassing the midfield at present, hoofing up to Andrew and Vincenti. Really hard o watch - this is not the type of football we are used to under Hilly. |
| Forum Thread | Farcical defending of corners at 12:40 6 Dec 2015
We could have conceded four goals from corners so far today...this needs sorting out and has done for some time. Why do we look so weak in this area? It's getting to the point where we need to avoid conceding corners full stop.... |
| Forum Thread | Promotion Season Photographs at 18:08 20 Jan 2015
Hi all - I am having a signed shirt from our 2009-10 promotion season framed, and wondered whether anyone had any good quality photos from that season, that I could frame alongside the shirt. Happy to pay reasonable going rate for them. Any help much appreciated! |

Just watched the highlights from Tuesday night. Is it me, or does the pitch actually look darker as a result of the new floodlights!? What do people who made it on Tuesday night think? |

How did we line up in terms of formation? I often look at the team-sheet but can never work out who played where (mainly the defence and midfield). Cheers! |
| Forum Thread | My one real concern at 00:08 3 Oct 2012
I remember some of Coleman's Accy teams being rather 'physical' to say the least when they visited Spotland in the past, and having watched us dominate teams under Hilly while simultaneously winning awards for fair play, I'm a little worried (with the disciplinary record so far, and one or two other incidents (Grant throwing himself to the floor at MK, players being pulled off because they can't be trusted not to get a second yellow) that we may soon earn ourselves a reputation for being dirty/cheats. It's also not a trait I want to see in our teams, so I hope we stamp (pardon the pun) that out as soon as possible. Would be interesting to canvass the views of others on this... |
| Forum Thread | Formation today at 17:48 28 Jan 2012
Was absolutely spot on. 4-2-3-1 is what coley specialises in and it made us more solid going backwards and more attacking going forwards. It also gave Jonah the freedom To go forward, where he was so effective last season, and today. Special praise for every player - can't fault a single one of them. |

What does he say this week on Daleplayer? |
| Forum Thread | (Tearing my) Eyre out at 17:14 12 Nov 2011
One too many defeats for me. He's had time - I said this week was his last chance as far as I'm concerned. Eyre out, before we go back to the dark ages. |
| Forum Thread | Not sure what to think at 22:38 25 Oct 2011
I really don't know whether we're going forward or backwards. I don't know whether we're starting to 'gel' or just showing glimpses of good play amongst the swathes of awfulness. What I do know (or think I know) is that - 1) Balkestein is NOT a full back. He is clearly a slow-paced centre half who has no idea what he's doing at left back. 2) We CANNOT pass the ball out from the back with the current players we have playing there. 3) We CANNOT persist in playing '4-3-3' with these personnel. Grimes and Eccelston end up being played out of position, and JLAA was not good enough to be a target man for Hill and should not be our target man now. I appreciate his energy and effort, but this is a man who could barely get a game for us last year. 4) Tutte, Grimes, Adams, and Darby are good individual young players with, I think, bright futures. 5) Holness is not as good a player as we thought he was. 6) If we play 4-4-2 and keep things bloody simple (cross the ball into the box and provide grimes/eccleston/JLAA with some service) we might do better. We're not Arsenal or Chelsea and this 4-1-2-2-1 does not work with poorer players. 7) That was one of the worst first halves of football I've seen from a Rochdale team while I've been supporting the team (since Barrow). I'd appreciate your thoughts! |
| Forum Thread | Starting line-up at 13:45 29 Jul 2011
Been away all summer folks, so I'm just seeking out an opinion from those who have managed to get to any/most of the friendlies, as to what our starting line-up and starting formation will be. Appreciate formation will be subject to change depending on opposition. Also any feedback from the fans' forum would be much appreciated. LD |
| Forum Thread | Attendances at 12:06 18 Jun 2011
Looking at the teams we are facing next season, I'm feeling positive that we can actually push for an average gate of 4000 next season. Anyone else agree? Or am I being too optimistic? Shame the increase is unlikely to be from more Daleys coming through the turnstiles. TVOS might know - when was the last time we averaged 4000 in a season? |
| Forum Thread | Beechy at 11:41 14 Jun 2011
Just wanted to say commiserations to Beechy if the rumours are true that he applied and was overlooked. He's undoubtedly done an excellent job running the youth side of things and I for one hope he carries on this role, or is offered the step up to assistant manager. This would allow for some continuity, and reward him for his service to the club. He's already highly regarded by the fans, and if he stays could become a bit of a legend for the Dale on the sly. Cheers Chris p.s. anyone else remember him scoring in the Sandy? Not sure if it was his only goal for the club - not a bad player when off the treatment table! |
| Forum Thread | Hilly Interview at 09:32 8 May 2011
Hilly's interview on the BBC website - praises the fans for their support, saying 'we're really really pleased with the support that we get' Delighted to hear this! I have a sneaking suspicion that the round of applause against Peterborough really hit home, and perhaps made Hilly realise how much we do actually appreciate what he and Flicker have achieved for the Dale. He's the best manager we've ever had on the field, and it's always been odd that there has always been an undercurrent of the 'love/hate' relationship between he and the fans at points. Hopefully now we've turned the corner and can have a big bury-style love in with him |
