| Forum Thread | Got to love JCs passion at 08:41 22 Aug 2012
I have loved listening to John Coleman's post match rants! He has real will to win and never looks to defend his players and spout the usual 'pc' rubbish some managers come out with. He comes across as being very honest and obviously has high expectations. His frustrations and anger is really tangible! Listening to the Chesterfield game(on a Wed morning in NZ!) it was so obvious Chesterfield would score after we missed some good chances to go 2-0 up. Does Ashley Grimes need 1 goal to lift his confidence and then he will start banging them in? Who does Donnelly compare to...is he good enough? Also sounds like we really need to extend Ryan Edwards stay in January. Keep the Faith |
| Forum Thread | Coleman and Sports Science? at 23:09 11 Apr 2012
Does anybody know how much emphasis JC places on Sports Science? He comes across as an 'old fashioned' type of manager to me? Hillcroft placed a big emphasis on nutrition, recovery, football specific fitness, psychology, motivation etc. His backroom staff also reflected this. Living in NZ I only see highlights, listen to commentry and read this messageboard to get my Dale fix and when I see the likes of Joe Hinnigan on the bench it just reminds me of the bad old days!! Young ambitious talent will only be attracted to Dale if they see us as a forward thinking club in terms of training/science with a professional approach both on and off the field. Regardless of relegation it does feel the club is going backwards but I hope JC can re-build from the bottom up and find the next generation of saleable assets as well as demanding the club be marketed in a more professional manner. Looking forward to seeing the retained list and watching the re-build. Role on season 12/13 |
| Forum Thread | Bury Reaction on Shakers World! at 20:36 28 Jan 2012
It was suggested by the interviewer to Barker that certain Dale Players would walk to Bury to play for the Shakers....Barker just give a wry smile! I take it they are talking about Adams? They also loved mentioning we were bottom of the league, worst team in the league etc and didnt give us much credit (football wise) at all apart from we wanted it more. Its been great to spend a couple of hours going over the reactions to the game after weeks of doom and gloom. Even when your on the other side of the world a result like that still fills you with the same excitement as if you were there. We will probably get spanked at Charlton but if we continue with the 4-2-3-1 (4-5-1 at Charlton!) for most of the season we should be ok. We got all our success in this league with 1 up top with Hillcroft(Obviously easier having OGrady) and I always thought 4-4-2 was just to easy for teams to breaks us down. If we can somehow get that quality targetman (no disrespect to Akpo) which all teams seem to be after we will be fine.....Is Platty still catching at Coventry?! Hopefully get Long until the end of the season...interesting to see Jordan not in the squad? |
| Forum Thread | glad im in NZ!!! at 08:42 6 Nov 2010
So chuffed when I got the game on Setanta on-line and settled down to watch it in the Auckland sun!! Im gutted here and Ive already had a few texts but cant imagine how hard it will be for you lot who went and now have to deal with the 'fall-out'. At least I can go to work on monday and nobody will know a thing!!! How different would that game have been if we had the 1st min pen? As usual some silly posts (quite understandable though!) on here especially IF we beat Sheff Wed all would be forgiven and possibly forgotten. Looking from afar TK gives more than Widdowson and I would prefer JT or Akpo Akpro to Elding. We do need a new front man with pace in the Steve Jones, Bret Ormerod, Dagnall mold and the midfield is screaming out for someone to up the tempo in the PERKINS mold. The next fixture will be the ultimate test for Hillys bouncebackability. After such a bad game everybody needs to think about the big picture and remember what you have experienced over the last few years...Darlo, Wembley, Gills, Auto promotion, 7-2, darlo 0-5 Dale, lots of 4-0 wins...away.remarkable comebacks...shrews,morecambe. league 1 wins against..huddersfield, southampton....All on one of the smallest budgets in the league. If we stay in league 1 we have had success again. |
