Oh look, the game plan does work when the players execute well!

Obviously the early goal help the nerves (players and fans). I also think Leeds played into our hands a little by not pressing our defence too hard - perhaps worried about Sulimanas pace.

Best 45 mins this season and perhaps in the last couple of seasons at SMS. Second half was about managing the game which on the whole we did reasonably well.

Perhaps we have turned a corner

Leeds played us really badly and gave us shed loads of room in H1. So we had room for our tippy tappy and didn’t come unstuck. And stone me three goals! But when they started to close us down in H2 we looked very vulnerable. Still we kept them out. And a win is a win
Manning is poor, why we stick with him I just don’t know. KWP had one very good run but the rest of the time just looked a lazy fvcker who needs a kick up the arse. And as for Smallbone Christ knows how he scored because the rest of the time he was worse than useless.
RM has bought himself some breathing space but I can’t help but feel we won despite him rather than because of him.

Sulemana and Alcaraz start. We ditch the nervy tippy tappy playing out from the back. Gazunu mixes it up a bit. And we win!
Let's see if Coco tries to revert to type in the next game or whether he let's them actually try and play.

Pleased overall would have liked that we were more positive in the section half seemed like we tried to shut up shop instead of doing what worked great In the first 45 mins.
Onward to Stoke and keep the same starting eleven even Manning finally had a decent game.COYR.

Alcaraz and Sulemana must start. Thought everyone did well. Leeds look awful how they went on that good run I'll never know. I think we defended well as a unit. Downes and Smallbone + the wingers always running back to help. Martin managed the game and took Smallbone off at the right time as was starting to look leggy. Thought we looked nervous 2nd hlf but can understand why. Need to keep hold of the ball like we used to. You could tell in the stadium everyone was expecting something to go wrong. Both those on and off the pitch. We're fragile but I'm confident.

Oh and Aribo was shit. A player Ralph would have liked. Pressed at every opportunity but did nothing when he got there.

A good win and relief at the three points. Thought the score flattered us a bit but for a change we were clinical. Glad Piroe had a poor game and failed to score.

Nice to see the team play attacking, pressing football rather than the phlim-phlam-shilly-shally-thumb-up-their-arse RustBall.
From the kick off, back to Bazunu and whaaaam! up the pitch. As much excitement in this one game from Saints than in the previous 8. The only times we were under pressure was when we played around at the back.
Smallbone looked a better player! The defence were solid (no place for Stephens!) Charlie buzzed. AdamA and Sulemana pressured the Leeds defence. Piroe? Looked ordinary!!
A much better all-round performance

It does go to show what can be achieved if we don't give away an early goal. They didn't close us down well in the first half and we capitalised well. Second half they pushed up further and closed down the space we had found easy to find earlier. The defence held firm & lets hope this can give us some confidence going up to Stoke!

Our defense finally looked compact and confident Bellis definitely had his best game to date
Russ has previously used St A, Alcaraz and Kamaldeen as subs. Many fans felt they should be startérs because we have tended to look better in the last 20 mins when they are on
Today proved it We started on the front foot and made it pay The only other change I would want in the starting 11 would be Charles for Smallbone just because I think he is a more positive player

Thank goodness for that. An attacking creative deployment taking pressure off the back 4. Wow. Play your best players, be aggressive and pass the ball forward quickly. It wins games. Who would have thunk it.

Hopefully Rodney Martin has learnt the lesson.

Rodney, don't be a plonker against Rotherham - play the obvious starting 11 and don't underestimate the opposition as Leeds did today. In this division you cannot give an inch

COYRs - together as one

That's a relief!! Of course it is only one game but it shows that when he picks our best players and we look to move forward rather than sideways/back from defence we can compete amd more. Bellis may well turn into a very good player and Sulemana has to be utilised while he is here. Of course if Leeds HAD got a second things would have got very scary but they didn't and that was to a large extent because we defended better. Yes no clean sheet but that didn't matter yesterday.

The one cautionary note is that we won because we were very efficient at converting chances. Going forward I think we do need to create more as we will rarely have that high a conversion rate. Anyway - let's repeat at Stoke and start looking UP the table.
