Barrow (H) Match Thread on 12:31 - Mar 14 by 1907 | Haha it gets better... Because of all our outfield players, the one you really want to be crossing the ball into the box is... Dorsett! Brilliant. Another fantastic reason to stick with this nonsense. |
So is the system flexible, or not?

I haven't said the formation isn't flexible. I've said the formation is garbage & doesn't work. Again just to highlight: Played 12 Won 2 Goals scored 9 (3 of those in one game against Harrogate) In 5 of those games (nearly 50%) we failed to score

Absolute nonsense, please don't put words into my mouth. Some of you on this forum have this bizarre mentality that anybody constructively challenging what we are seeing is either negative or hates the manager. I am neither of the above. I really want RS to succeed, because I want Dale to succeed. His interviews have always been refreshing (although I felt Saturday's was probably the worst) & he is a genuine & honest guy. He really does talk a good game, however performances are nowhere near that standard of talk. However I will use this messageboard, as intended, to have constructive debates & as criticism then follows (usually from the same posters) who fail to reply to the points I make with anything other than sly digs. My opinion is the formation is our biggest problem, the evidence to back this point up are the results & our precarious league position. I also take Umbridge to RS telling me we played with a back 4 on Saturday (yes, we did for spells), but ultimately we played with a back 5 for large spells of the game. No hatred here pal.

On formation alone, I agree with Stockdale. He/the team then adapted during the game when they had extra options out wide. Exactly what O’Keeffe should have done in his role.

The problem is 1907, that you seem oblivious to being constructively challenged My quote: "Whether our performance within that flexibility was good enough is an entirely different matter" You chose to ignore that and instead, have a dig at Dorsett, whose crossing ability is no better or worse than our forwards/wingbacks at the moment [Post edited 14 Mar 2022 13:52]

There was no dig at Dorsett there, I've been very complimentary of Dorsett throughout this thread. The issue is you attempting to sell a formation to us, that basically exposes a players greatest weakness. And you're labelling this a good thing? I'm sure most centre backs in this division's worst nightmares would be to end up stuck on the wing, with the expectation of nearly 3000 people hoping that you're able to put a pearler of a cross in. The whole thing is just becoming a little silly. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I suggest you have a re-read of your post at 12.31 It starts with: "Ha, ha..." as if you think you're making some kind of jokey point that'll have messageboarders splitting their sides. It was silly then, and looks even sillier now you've chosen to use that epithet too

You find it ridiculous that a centre back is given the flexibility to get to the by-line to put in a cross? Whilst there's cover behind him by others who can see his foray into the opposition half? There are times in a game, i.e. when we're pressing for a winner, that that type of 'overload' can be very effective. On Saturday, we didn't take advantage of it, but that's another matter (as already stated) There's only one object of ridicule here, and you've made yourself a very easy target with your lack of understanding of the modern game

"There's only one object of ridicule here, and you've made yourself a very easy target with your lack of understanding of the modern game" I have a much greater understanding of the game than you ever will, highlighted by your comments regarding the formation & Dorsett which are just plain odd. It’s getting a tiny bit sad how you two are jumping on everything I post trying to patronise and insult me to be honest. Quite a few other posters have actually agreed with my comments in this thread. Didn’t see your earlier post to be honest, knew it wouldn’t be long before you popped up though. Also no idea what your reference to United is supposed to insinuate.

It was in reference to the comment about formation and Dorsett on the left wing. There was an insult aimed at me in the post I quoted, but obviously you’ve ignored that. For someone who is so offended by swearing at football, I find it a little hard to believe how open you are to targeted online trolling. I notice you have this thing about agendas - you’re certainly living up to that reputation with my posts lately. But if that’s what makes you happy, crack on.

Yeah, I’m very much offended by people openly swearing in front of my children. You clearly don’t see that as an issue so you’re either not a parent or you’re a bit of a scrote. The only person who accused people on here of having agendas is you. It’s in your post history. Now, please do explain how you know far more about football than people on here. There's been no reference to Dorsett on the left wing His foray where he ended up crossing the ball came through the middle before he received a return pass which allowed him to put the ball in from the by-line You can't have been watching that closely or you'd know that, or reading that closely or you'd know that too And references to trolling are wider of the mark than any attempt on goal during the game You're welcome (That didn't take long...)

"You and your little friend won’t stop me posting on here." I can't speak for kel (nor him for me - we've never met) but that's not my intention at all. I've disagreed with your analysis, and despite your best attempts at labelling us as trolls, you've done nothing to provide a counter to my points except bluster If you come here to talk football, then answer the counter-arguments rather than making baseless claims about "knowing more about football". You're a very long way from demonstrating that
