Turning into my quiet residential street in Muswell Hill in the wee hours of this morning, I chanced upon the holy letters QPR scrawled in the thin covering of snow on a car window. I added "YouR's!, naturally. Really hope that whoever wrote it sees my addition this morning.

That's probably Neil SI. He lives there and was steaming last night.
I had an old Lost Hoop mate who lived up Muswell Hill. I try and go everywhere on pushbike #FatManOnABicycle but feck me steep ole Muswell Hill sure near got the better of me. Had to get off and walk it only a third of the way up.
I pity the poor Ranger who has to live up there.

That's seconds away from me. I live on Tetherdown.
Wow. So its only half a century separating us!!
Before that we lived at Weston Park Crouch End within a booing of the clock tower. Hornsey College of Art was a political hotbed in those days and my wife went there at the same as Ray Davies of the Kinks and The Rolling Stones Charlie Watts amongst others when they were only a glimmer on the music scene.
Currently residing in Pinner, Centre of the Universe.

I used to live on Tetherdown! Now (literally) just round around the corner, on King's Avenue. Was Clive right about the snow graffiti then, Neil?

Nice, we'll have to hit John Baird some time. :)
And no, that wasn't me! So there is another...
Sure, or travel to a game together, perhaps. Muswell Hill Rangers friend! I saw a guy jogging along Fortis Green in a thin-hooped excuse for a Rangers shirt recently and we "YouRs!- ed each other. Was THAT you? If not, it seems Muswell Hill is truly the Ruislip of the North.

Sure, that would be cool, however, we are early risers here. I tend to meet Clive for breakfast for home matches, sometimes we head to Feast, but usually we make our way into town around Leicester Square before hitting W12.
I don't think that jogger was me, although I did run in QPR colours a while back, probably late last year and recall getting a "You Rs" then. Some years back, when I was coaching the QPR Ladies and head-to-toe in QPR gear, a guy started singing "and it's Queens Park Rangers..." at me as well.
So, there are definitely a few around here. I've seen a chap and his son in QPR colours from time-to-time, and come to think about it, I think I've seen a runner in a QPR top as well, so that might be the person you saw rather than me. There's another much older guy, who I've not seen in a while, but who usually wears an older QPR jacket too.
Drop me a line sometime on DM anyway. ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Muswell Hill as it’s where my Dad grew-up when his family moved back down from Edinburgh. Spent loads of time there as a kid, as we had lots of family living there and in Crouch End. My Dad grew-up in a flat above the Broadway with the entrance just off Queens Ave. My Mum’s family lived on Alexandra Park Road from when she was eight, but rather than meeting my Dad locally, she actually met him on holiday in the Isle of Wight. Kwazy.
No connections to the Kinks, unfortunately, but my Dad was mates all through school with Ashley Hutchings of Fairport Convention and then later, Simon Nicol; he used to watch them practising above the surgery at Fairport House. My Username “Konk” is a tribute to the Kinks’ old studio on Tottenham Lane, which I must have walked past a thousand times; still always gives me a buzz on the odd occasion I see Ray Davies out and about round Crouch End, Hornsey, Muswell Hill or Highgate.
As much as I like Muswell Hill, I’ve never been convinced by any of the pubs. And 18st — my wife has been close to tears just walking up Muswell Hill in the past — good job we’re not moving to somewhere hilly like Bristol…
I sent this to my folks the other day — if you’re curious about the Hanging basket/municipal flowerbed scene in the Borough of Hornsey in 1959, then this will blow your mind (my Mum used to work at the Town Hall before the advent of Haringey) — the John Baird also makes an appearance. The lack of traffic is wonderful.

I've met you in the French patisserie with a bloody silly name once or twice so another one, that makes...... er 6?
It's like a posh Shangri-La island situated on a mountain-top plateau.

Used to live that way up until end of last year and used to go running and I guess I'd occasionally wear a QPR top doing it. Attempted to run up Muswell Hill a couple of times. Awful awful times.

Oh, and I know of two Fulham fans in Muswell Hill — I think it’s a fair assumption that there are probably several hundred more. We own the gaff.
Wow people stop at a Z crossing and wait, I drive for a living and the amount of people that now just walk on to a crossing (normally on their phone) without even looking or pausing.

Just to add to the community.....I am down the hill in N8. Typically watch away games in the Priory, as mentioned before, Sh*t but local. I may be the dad and son combo if you've seen me on the W7?

Wow. The range of responses to my initial daft little post are a brlliant example of why I bloody love this site. It takes supporting a football team to a new level, really. I enjoy living here; the Edwardian architecture is lovely, and the old Odeon (now a very cool but overpriced Everyman) is a great bit of Art Deco. I love living so close to all the shops you need and there are some great independents, but the three pubs lack soul (even the huge one in an old church) and there are too many chain restaurants. I prefer Crouch End and even East Finchley for going out (Amici's deli/cafe is ace), and Highgate for pubs. I went out with a camera a while back and only then noticed how shabby-genteel Muswell Hill is , with many places needing a lick of paint, at least. The Kinks connection is rightly celebrated (the tacky Clissold Arms has a Kinks room) and Rod Stewart went to the secondary which became Fortismere; a more recent musical link is with the fabulous and talented local boy, Michael Kiwanuka.

Bombay Bicycle Club also went to Highgatewood School. I do like Crouchy, I moved here from Feltham (via a few years in Ealing & Shepherds Bush) and wouldn't live any where else now. There is a real community feel around the place and no sense you are going to get your head caved in on a Saturday night (unlike Feltham).
Best pubs for me around the area is the Queens, Haringey Arms or Earl Haig for drinking. Too many restaurants to mention, but all are good (the crap ones shut pretty quickly). However no where really good to watch the football unless its Arsenal. I do occasionally drop in the Royal Oak in Muswell Hill which is ok.
We should do a N10 / N8 meet up!! Konk can be an honoury attendee.
