I've just been browsing his linked in profile, slight exaggeration (His spelling is awful too):-

Chairman
Swansea City Football Club
Privately Held; 201-500 employees; Sports industry
1999 — 2002 (3 years)

Bought this football club through Silver Shield Group, revitalised club gaining promotion and gaining plannning permission for new stadia at Morfa, now built and called Liberty Stadium

Ninth Floor PLC also seem to have had shady existence in later years, to be expected:-

Ah Swanmail. Them were the days. Whenever someone accuses this place of having "cliques" I think lovingly back to Swanmail, which was one massive one. I got into terrible trouble a few times and I wasn't ever a regular.

I've just been amusing myself reading a huge spat between DJ-S and Steve Edwards from 2002. Them were the days.

As it was email based, it did allow some ferociously bad language. I'd forgotten that.

Things got particularly ugly for me the night Hartlepool stuck seven on us, also in 2002 I think.

Thats the one. Alwaysajack2002 told me once in jackarmy.net football training his birthday was the day before mine and he was a year younger than me. Went on the site, typed in his birth date as his password and bingo! Posted all sorts of shit!

Remember him and "Davvy" cosying up to Petty at the start trying to persuade us that he was a good guy really? That didn't end well for them and led to some cracking barneys on JA.net.

I remember AAJ, Steve something from Bonymaen?

Didn't he arrange a few private meetings with Petty and almost get lynched for it? Heart in the right place but head in the shed I think

As for DJS, I had many a run in (on Swanmail) with him. He believed that SCFC (post-petty) should be run on "socialist principles" don't ask me how that would work in the real world but in his fantasies he was convinced it was the only way.

Petty was simply a shyster and a devious conman, he was out to make a few bob quickly and, I suppose, succeeded. Thank fugg he met the concerted opposition he did otherwise he would have completely ruined the club back then.

ha ha - I don't use it as it happens, so feel free (well, I say I don't use it - I registered once upon a time I think and get fairly regular emails saying someone I've never heard of wants to 'connect' which I happily ignore).

Everything else he says is bollo(ks. No reason to believe his comments about Mel are any different.

I know which side of the story I believe.

EDIT - I may have misconstrued your comment. Everything about Mel buying the £800k debt for £100k is true. It was more the sour grapes attached to Petty's comments that I reckon is bollo(ks.

I agree, I was being pass remarkable. I love that word. Mel was onside with the fans and Petty clearly felt by attacking him financially he could embarrass him I suppose. Didn't work mind.

Isn't it odd that a thread about the Silver Shield cheats gently grows in to a thread about Petty ? Should tell us all that they are one of the same.

This was a great read this morning and brilliant to hear from Murph as well as part of the disussions

I am more than happy to host any of the Swanmail messages on here if there are some good ones - would make a great read and memory jerker for many of us I am sure and also show some of the newer fans exactly what went on back in the day

If anyone wants to share highights with me via email there is loads of bandwidth that I am happy to use up for others to read?

Vicious place at times. We've all made up now but we had some major bustups on there around 2000/1. Old Scouse wouldn't have lasted 4 hours on there.

My email archiving has gone a bit sketchy around the Petty era, so I only get digests for particular days but not everyday throughout. When I get a quiet moment, I'll dig them out and send them over.

Great stuff, it will be good to have some sort of 'vault' covering this important era in our history, such a shame its not the full archives from the past, but a good start.

Who knows what posters on here have stored regarding this topic, hopefully a few surprises!
