| Forum Thread | This premier league season is ... meh at 14:11 25 Apr 2015
Chelsea has already won ... the 3 next CL spots not contested and the only real excitement is the battle for relegation. Kind of sad in a way ... For us Swansea fans its just about seeing how the team develops and wether we break the record, which we should. |
| Forum Thread | M&M´s are delicious ... at 18:54 21 Apr 2015
... but they do come in different colors. Our season has in my oppinion been about squad improvement, grinding the necessary results and watching Monk evolve. He could turn out to be a great manager in the years to come given a similar approach to that of Mourinho´s. Obviously we cant play the same way as Chelsea, the players are individually far too different. I am however noticing more and more similarities between M&M ... Similarities: Defensive minded Less passing and more purpose. Emphasis on being clinical Hard work needed 1-0 and shut shop ... they do have big differences like temper, I am sure Monk will catch up eventually and start blaming the refs. Now we just need to win the league :-D |

| Forum Thread | The most surprising (performance wise) signing ever? at 18:18 27 Mar 2015
Who surprised you in a bad or good way? and why? I have followed Swansea only a year before Laudrup stepped in, so not much history here. I have to say that Michu comes first, I never ever expected him to just start banging them in when he was signed. |
| Forum Thread | The reason why Montero isnt starting. at 22:52 21 Mar 2015
This is at least my theory. When playing a "4-2-3-1 narrow" Monk wants a midfield which is versatile and interchangeable. You could even call it a "4-1-4-1 narrow" since Ki, Siggy, Shelvey and Routledge all swap positions with each other to provide surprise and make it harder for the opponents midfield to man mark. In the above example Cork is the only defensive pillar, Ki and Routledge provide balance ... one being more defensive (Ki) and the other offensive (Routledge). In this tactical weirdness all 4 midfielders are assist makers and scorers, they all make the deep runs and they are all capable of making the penetrating pass. Gomis is there to pick up the breadcrums in the penalty box and assist in the buildup. Montero is very much your typical wingert but according to Monk he probably doesnt have the needed vision and positioning to constantly change his role according to gameplay. He would most likely constantly try to seek the left flank leaving the "his" middle of the park empty. In the above scenario waiting to the last 20 minutes of a game to sub him in makes sence, players are tired and opposition organisation is crumbling ... Montero has the pace to run deep and strike where it hurts by either assisting or scoring. He is not however capable of playing an entire game as a versatile midfielder, in Monks eyes Routledge is better suited for that role. |

| Forum Thread | How much does money matter in the last 10 games? at 23:12 8 Mar 2015
I for once would love to see Matt Grimes play a game just to see what the guy is made of. But will league positioning and the cash reward from said position matter so much, that we probably wont see a lot of changes to the first team? If it is so then it kind of sucks, we are in " no mans land" in the league table after losing to Spurs, our current strikers havn´t made any noteworthy presence, the goals are coming from the midfield. Heck, not even our defenders score. I definately would love to see some alternative thinking in terms of our lineup, mix some new vegetables in that soup ... time to spice things up, but maybe money will dictate the run. |
| Forum Thread | Who would you want to win the title? at 18:51 22 Feb 2015
Just extremely curious, given the choice which club would you choose? .... apart from Swansea of course. Any club in the premier league is allowed. West Ham is my choice .... yours? |

| Forum Thread | Swansea problems by Max Hicks at 22:23 16 Feb 2015
... and I actually agree with almost everything in his blog. http://www.espnfc.com/barclays-premier-league/23/blog/post/2296915/swansea-city- He raises some valid points and compares Monk to Wenger, I never thought of that initially, but upon reading I do understand the comparison he makes. But unlike many posters here I will not paint the devil on the wall and agree with some of the answers below the blog. We are in 9th position and perhaps as a team a bit too complacent and not caring "enough" to commit. Anyway, I am happy with the 9th position and Monk so far, just hoping our playstyle regardless of what it is soon shows some positive consistency. |
| Forum Thread | Funny question on danish tv (arena fight) at 19:50 11 Feb 2015
Which one of the 20 premier league managers would be the last man standing in an arena fight? Brian Laudrup said Nigel Pearson, but what does he know? Sounds clueless to me. My money is on Allerdyce, there is something ninja about the way he chews gum. |
